From Stone to Steel. WOW!!!!!

I just got this book today, after printing it out at Printfu.com. This book is amazing. One of the things that I saw was something I wish more companies would expand on.

They have a duelist prestige class, one of the skills they get is Fencing. This skill I believe is trained only, have to read more on it tonight. With this skill you have access to various Fencing abilities like riposte, lunge attack, etc....

Riposte is if you are missed in combat you make a Fencing check, DC 10 + Opponents Fecing or BAB (whichever is higher), if you beat them you get to make an attack of opportunity.

I think this is way better than having a bunch of feats to do the same thing.

I would very much like to see more of this type of thing.

Unfortunately Monkeygod went out of business a good time back. 1? 2? years ago.

Try Frost and Fur. I liked it much better than Frostburn. Yes, Frostburn looked prettier, but I liked Frost and Furs fluff a heck of a lot better and crunch was just better.

I also like their modules, especially Black Ice Well (Slaadi!!)

I plan on getting frost and fur next paycheck, if it is as good as the book I got (it looks like it is).

I will probably work on some skills that are like their fencing skill, basically grouping like feats and changing them into maneuvers that you can use if you have the skill.

Oh this might be a good way for C&C. Basically have a way for people to gain a combat type skill that gives them various combat maneuvers via ability checks.

Thats why your screen name was extra familiar! The C&C boards!

Have to admit when I read the way you described it first thing to come to mind is that it would work well with the SIEGE engine.

FSTS is an amazing book, I will agree. Part history textbook, part weapons and armour goodness :D

I've been preaching about it since I got here :D

I am getting Tome of Battle, it should be here tomorrow. However, seeing this method of handling new maneuvers seems easier and less of a potential headache than what I have seen of TOB. Not only that, it would not overshadow any class, since you would just add a feat allowing you to buy the skill. Sort of like

Combat Style:

Benefit: You have learned a specific combat style skill. Choose 1 Skill from the following list. You can take this feat multiple times but you can only choose a style only once.

Fencing
Combat style two
and so on.

I love the Fencing skill, as well as the way FSTS handles weapon breakage.

Ever since Nyaricus made me aware of it, I've been in love with the book. :D
