Do you have squirrels in your area? When the flower was beautiful and ripe, they cut it down, ate maybe 25% of it and left it on the ground to rot.

You need a squirrel catapult to protect them! ;-)

I have many squirells, they ate the feeding grate on my birdfeeder. (It was supposed to keep squirrel hands out, bird beaks in, they ate the plastic and gorged on seeds.

As of this week, we have no outdoor cooking options. We gave our 2 old charcoal grills and our electric smoker to the handyman who just completed repairing, replacing & repainting some parts of the house’s exterior that needed some TLC.

So we’re in the market for a new charcoal grill. Just going to get ONE, probably a round Weber with a table attachment.
I agonized over what to get for a while and settled on a kettle grill. I was going to get the Weber, but someone on Reddit suggested the SnS, and I went for that. It was a little more expensive, but when I priced out the Weber + the accessories I wanted, namely the table and the lid holder, it ended up about breaking even. Plus the SnS comes with the charcoal basket insert, and has the lid thermometer on the same side as the vent, which according to people online is better. ¯\(ツ)

Just got it in the mail and assembled last week, and had hoped to try it out over the weekend, but we got rained out :/

Did my first cook yesterday.

I did not use enough charcoal. I bought a charcoal chimney, and it seemed so big, and we were just doing beef and chicken kabobs. I filled the chimney up 3/4s of the way through, thinking that would be enough, and I think I was actually way off. I think I also messed up with the chimney by waiting too long to dump it. I thought I needed to wait for all the coals to turn white, but I think in doing so I let the bottom coals end up burning out almost completely.

Next time I'll fill the chimney up all the way, and then dump it a little sooner, and lastly, probably add even more coals on top once they're in the grill. My grill never got up to 400F, and after a bit over an hour at ~300-350F my coals were all spent.

Another mistake I think I made was overcrowding my grill. I was able to fit all ten skewers on there, but just because I could, didn't mean I should have.

The food turned out okay regardless, but could have been better. Some of the meat was barely charred(Though at least fully cooked through) and other pieces were overly burnt.

I think we're going to try burgers next time. That should be easier, I think.

Fill chimney, light paper, wait 4 minutes, dump charcoal, cover with about an equal amount (doubling what you've got in chimney). That should cook one full load worth of food on the grill, maybe even two.
