I did. Everything I've found is neutral-to-tentatively-optimistic, so I was wondering where you were getting your news

I think it's probably more than that.

Creepypasta is huge with younger generations in a way that even popular legacy brands are not. (My kids, who grew up in a geeky household, don't care if they never see another comic book or Star Wars movie, but are both in to see this movie later this week.)

Hollywood, for a variety of reasons, is all-in on legacy brands, which are catering mostly to an older audience that, by its very nature, is going to shrink over time, even independent of issues of people getting glutted with content or questions about quality, which I think we've seen raised about pretty much every franchise Hollywood has gone hard on.

At some point, we are going to have Millennials and then Gen Z calling the shots in Hollywood and there will be a realignment. But right now, Baby Boomers and Gen X executives are mostly creating stuff for audiences like themselves that they hope will have a bigger reach that it does.

A lot of what used to be made as general drama movies are now streaming series. The ones that do get theatrical releases are shorter than they used to be. Same for thrillers, but maybe less so. There are fewer live-action comedy theatrical releases than ever. Horror movies have been on the rise for years, because they're relatively inexpensive to make. Action tent-pole movies have gotten longer and more expensive.

Regarding the latter, Disney owns both Star Wars and Marvel Studios, and have managed to dilute both brands since their lastest high points roughly 10 years ago. Expectations for what a SW or Marvel product looks and feels like are very high, but it's really hard to reach those on tv, and Disney has cranked out a lot of both brands on tv for years now.

Yup, and it’s still one of the highest grossing films of all time (no 2 at 2.8bn; no 5 if adjusted for inflation). I guess Star Wars’ last high point at the movies was TFA in 2015 (no 6 at 2bn).

I was roughly averaging the high point of Disney's Star Wars - i.e. after TFA and Rogue One - and Disney's Marvel (Infinity war and Endgame).

It’s mostly plot synopsis (which sounds dreadful and has no starfighters) that I’ve seen. I don’t know that it’s accurate but I have seen similar stuff several times and it’s been taken down very quickly.

I haven't seen anything positive or negative beyond speculation.

I'm not expecting a big hit but cant rule it out.

Endgame was a culmination of so much, it punched above its weight actual story-wise.

10 years ago was Rogue 1.

I would be in for a re-edit and re-issue of Rogue 1 that takes Andor into account.

Given how literal their non-trilogy movie titles have been ("it stars the Mandalorian and Grogu; any ideas for a title?"), this would be a weird misstep if this ends up being the case.
