Try the Twin Suns format (equivalent to Magic the Gathering's Commander / EDH) which is multiplayer and can be a bit more thematic as well as cheaper and easier to build decks.
The film’s problem isn’t its cast, it’s the director and the misleading title, which will cause serious nerd-rage when people discover it’s not Top Gun in space but The Adam Project in space.
