General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

I take any Star Wars rumours with a pinch of salt (especially when the source is the usual ‘trust me bro’) given that there’s an entire industry of grifters that profit from poisoning the well ahead of any release.

In actual Star Wars news, Andor won a second Peabody Award for S2 a few days ago. One for each season, not too shabby.

Or adding CGI muppets.
there used to be on wookiepedia an article called ruined forever that included the phrases "a proposed initiative requiring all Star Wars fans to purchase an annual "DVD offset" could ensure our fragile brand's existence through the mid-21st century." and "Star Wars should abandon all attempts at re-invention and instead cater exclusively to the old-school fanbase."

And yes i've seen both of those discussed with seriousness.

Its pretty clear at the end of Andor that no one expecting to do any reuniting.
Yes, I know, but there are faint moments where Jyn and Cassian seem like they might have feelings for each other, which was fine when the movie first came out, but now it makes Cassian kinda ick since he has a wife. (Yes, I know she left Yavin IV, but the plan was that he’d come find her after …).

It’s not a huge issue, but if they were ever going to rerelease Rogue One, it would be a nice touch to at least acknowledge that Cassian is technically married.

Anybody here play Star Wars Unlimited? Some of my buddies picked it up with their kids. Trying to get me to join up. I asked where my Holiday Special deck was lol. Though, im kinda eyeing Jabba deck. I have very little idea how collectible card games work and play though. Should I keep it that way?

Play it; it's fun! You can go in on collecting, or competitive play (which requires depth of mechanical knowledge and tracking down the rarer cards), or just stick to fun & thematic stuff. Try the Twin Suns format (equivalent to Magic the Gathering's Commander / EDH) which is multiplayer and can be a bit more thematic as well as cheaper and easier to build decks.

The pre-constructed decks are good starting points, though they vary wildly in "strength" and ease of play. See how casual or competitive your group and ask them to help you tailor.

Mia Goth being cast as a Sith (or Sith adjacent) is an inspired choice.
Ryan Gosling might be playing the Star fighter, but anyone who’s seen Pearl knows Mia is the Star.

The film’s problem isn’t its cast, it’s the director and the misleading title, which will cause serious nerd-rage when people discover it’s not Top Gun in space but The Adam Project in space.

He’s directed more than one film. Do you have any specific reason to believe he’ll just redo one of his previous films, or do you dislike his oeuvre in general? At least he’s got the better Ryan for this one!

The plot synopsis.

The Adam Project is a love letter to Star Wars, with laser swords (lots of them) and space ships, but mostly it’s a sentimental movie about father/son bonding.

Even if you discount the plot leaks, Disney have been open that “Starfighter” is about an uncle (forced to act as surrogate father) bonding with his nephew.

If you look at Levy’s other work, it leans heavily into comedy and sentiment, not gritty action. Again, Disney have talked about “Starfighter” having comedy and sentiment (but nothing about it having space battles).

And, of course, Disney’s track record must give one reason to view any upcoming Star Wars movie more with trepidation than hope.

My personal opinion is the other Ryan is the better one, but that’s not the reason I think Starfighter will suck.

Sure, because a story about a surrogate father bonding with a child has never worked before in Star Wars.

Seriously, nothing whatsoever in your description is off-putting to me regarding this movie.
