Disagree. One of Star Wars greatest strengths as a setting is the depth of lore that's been built around it, allowing you to play in a wide variety of sub settings while still allowing the core plot points to proceed if desired. The basic themes are so...well...basic that it is IMO relatively easy to make a Star Wars-esque adventure, but if we're using the actual setting, I want the lore and I want it to matter.
Though what we’re mostly doing is airing our headcanons and checking they aren’t clearly contradicted by canon media. I’m personally happy for Sith to corrupt Jedi saber crystals, and for Jedi to purify Sith crystals, in my headcanon, but of course others may disagree.
I would call Star Wars lore anything BUT deep. It is mutable and muddy and inconsistent and accommodating. Which is why I love it. For Star Wars lore to be "deep" one has to pick and choose what counts and not even the IP holders can do that consistently.
Again,picking and choosing. It isn't like the old EU was without its inconsistencies. Hell, people sometimes can't agree on its borders. Did WEG count? When did it end? Etc.
