General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

I don't think Lucas or Disney really appreciated how much the novels and novelizations helped them over the years. Sure, there was a lot of cringey stuff in some of them, but they also cleaned up a lot of the genuine issues with the movies.

The original Star Wars novel included stuff about Luke's friends that we never saw any film or even stills of for years and helped make him less of an insufferable brat by their inclusion.
There was a lot of bad novels in the Star Wars universe, but there were quite a few that were easily better than anything they’ve done since with the franchise.

Lucas did, at least early on. In his original canon heirarchy, the movie novelizations were at the highest non-movie level of canon, alongside the radio plays and the early "Art Of" books.

After reading Attack of the Clones' novelization, I don't think I had ever looked forward to anything in my life as much as watching Yoda use a lightsaber. And at least in the mind of 12 year old me, who forced my dad to take me to the theater to watch it while on vacation, it lived up to the hype.

Watch it now. Dated CGI doing Sonic the Hedgehog.

PT strength is the storyline and characters.

When I first saw ANH I was 12, with 4 older brothers, the oldest being 20.

So, to me, Luke has never seemed unusually whiney.
