General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

Just reading your criticisms; man - you really don’t like shows in which women play a prominent role, huh?

Despite Disney’s best efforts to ruin Star Wars, they haven’t managed to put out anything as bad as the Prequels (excepting perhaps Rise, which I maintain is a brilliant example of so-bad-it’s-good). Perhaps next time they can put some racist caricatures in; maybe win back your approval.

A hill i will die on: Obi Wan had everything but the budget.
Obi Wan GIF by Star Wars

Here we see Whizzbang highlighting the only scene of any value in the Prequels (“thunderous applause” is pretty neat, too). We never needed to see Anakin’s fall, though : sometimes backstory is better left in the past (ok, it’s Star Wars, that was never gonna happen)

P.S. Obi-wan was fine. Continuity errors and retcons - annoying, sure, but that’s been a problem since 1980.

Love sigouney weaver in alien 1&2 and the better cut off 3
Just watched Charlize In a new Netflix movie
Loved Ashoka cartoon
Loved when eleven saved the day
Hoping to be first in line for supergirl
Loved the 3rd-5th de who companions. Sarah Jane was one of my heroes

Don’t pigeon hole me because I along with millions rejected new stars wars etc etc

I’m sorry but that inquisitor in obi was insufferable
Rey had zero personality
Boba was/is a man but it was just meh
Ashoka was just ok. There’s been zero information other than the recasting of a villian(who died) and he’s just way more interesting which is a good thing. Luke wasn’t as interesting as Vader and milk drinking old man milk made jar jar likeable

Rogue 1 was just better. Not because of andor the heroine was the star. Andor the show is just better. The robot I bet is more likeable than any of the heroes of the Rey trilogy

I have zero influence over a generation plus they gravitated towards stranger things and all things got. There was negative energy either way most of the above to the point where it was shelved. There’s no Rey merch/lunch box but cartoon Ashoka lives on Nevermind stranger things everything.

Anakin’s arc in Clone Wars is pure cinema and the Vader comics stuff is genius. The prequels are just badly made because Lucas is the epitome of the "idea guy."

Acolyte had no viewers so it died and it was just terrible. Glad you like it. It had a negative impact on the brand
Fueled by internet outrage by people with hate for what they were doing, or no vision. People that have seen it without all the internet outrage around it have pretty much said- where's the hate coming from? And the viewership numbers after the concerted effort by the haters rose sharply to make it one of the most viewed of the series.

We seem to have pretty different tastes so I’m a little trepidatious to try it; because I think there’s a significant chance I’ll hate it. If I were to watch it do you recommend chronological or release order?

Yeah, it was reported recently that The Acolyte had the 2nd highest viewership for a Disney+ show in 2024, and recently climbed back into the top ten two years after it had come out.

Clone Wars? I’d say just watch them in release order. It’s only the early seasons that are a bit jumbled up for that classic pulp feel. The later (and better) seasons are pretty much all in chronological order already.

The early seasons are a little rough, but you can see the writing, acting, and animation improve as the seasons go by. All the subsequent animated series (Bad Batch, Rebels, Tales of anthologies, and Maul: Shadow Lord) have used (and further improved on) that later Clone Wars style. I’m telling you this in hopes that the early Clone Wars seasons won’t put you off. It’s worth staying the course.

And then those numbers declined sharply after the first episode. The show just wasn‘t good.
