General video game discussion

Clockwork Revolution (which, to be clear, is my most anticipated game out of this whole fest) being an Xbox console exclusive was ... a shock.

(It'll be on PC where I'll be getting it, so it doesn't affect me, but sucks for people who only own a PS5.)
oh god yes, that game looks all kinds of fun and up my alley

I hadn't heard of this one, looks rad. I might grab it when it comes out.

Having a go at Midnight Suns, a bizarre superhero tactical card battler/friendship sim hybrid. I’m usually lukewarm on card-battlers but this has decent combat, though the positioning on the tactical map is a bit loosely-goosey for me - I would have preferred a proper hex/square grid. The friendship stuff annoys me much less than I thought it would, but there’s still a little too much to do at the base between missions. Four or five upgrade stations, a bunch of superheroes to suck up to, and a big creepy backyard to explore just leads to too much downtime between missions. Still, it’s a solid game and I don’t regret the purchase.

Clockwork Revolution is available on Steam. It is not an Xbox exclusive.

I felt similarly about Persona 6 after seeing its trailer, it is similarly Xbox and PC exclusive, which feels disappointing after having played Persona 5 as one of my first games on PS4.

Just saw the trailer for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, and ... GIVE IT TO ME!! Honestly it is about time we finally had a new Castlevania game, and finally at long last we have confirmation that the studio stood up and noticed the success of the TV series, as Rose Belmont is the daughter of Trevor and Sypha. The aesthetic is great, reminds me a bit of Hades II (particularly the cursed arm) among other things.

Edit: Oh, no wonder it also reminds me of the Dead Cells aesthetic. One of the devs is literally the studio that made Dead Cell's Return to Castlevania DLC.

All the new Marvel games are tickling my fancy. Rivals is least interesting (because I’m no good at shooters) but Cosmic Invasion (which has so many visual references to the old Capcom games) and Tokon (not out yet) look pretty sweet. What do people think of them?

I'd have had that one long since if it wasn't for Denuvo.

Well, this is just giving me massive amounts of ick this morning. I’ve downloaded games before but I still prioritize actually buying the discs and will keep doing so as long as I can.
How long has it been since a game was playable off the disk?
