GLEE Season 3 Premiere: The Purple Piano Project

It's back after four long excrutiating months and an anticlimactic season finale (they couldn't end the episode with another song?). You've all heard that most of the kids are graduating this year. In the season premiere, Mr. Shu sets up a big project to help the glee club get over their loss at nationals. (If they're so upset about it, maybe they shouldn't have waited until the last minute to put together a number.) It doesn't help that several members are leaving the club.

The glee club sings "We Got the Beat", originally performed by the Go-Gos

Blaine sings "It's Not Unusual", originally performed by Tom Jones

Rachel and Kurt sing "Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead", originally performed in The Wizard of Oz

Santana and Lindsay (one of the contestants in The Glee Project, a reality show that ran over the summer) do a mashup of "Anything Goes" and "Anything You Can Do"

The glee club sings "You Can't Stop the Beat", originally performed in Hairspray

Okay, I won't get to watch this until Wednesday, but it sounds like, at least musically, it'll be a fun episode.

No spoilers..... just a correction Santana and Lindsay do NOT sing a duet as promised, but rather Lindsay backed by a whole new group of singers....

As for the quality of the songs this episode - dynamite! Musically probably the best episode I've seen in the series. Well except for the "Hey, Big Spender" surprise performance... but I can forgive them for that.
