GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Previews/Discussion

I know this wasn't fielded to me, but I hope you don't mind my chiming in anyway: if you're referring to the character on the cover of The Immortal's Handbook: Ascension, that's Surtur. Given that he's an Elder One in the 3.5 book, that would make him Divine Rank 7 under the 5E rules.
Ah ok. I half thought it was Typhon because of the hand but I was not certain.

Hey GreatestHonor amigo!

apologies for the slow reply. while I was on holiday for some unknown reason I could not access ENWorld for the past 4-5 days...was the site down at all?

Back home now (after playing some 5E & also Pathfinder 2 - which has a few cool ideas*).

* I swear I did not borrow their idea of magic weapons dealing more damage; I arrived at my own rules completely independently.

I recently found your 3.x rendition of these rules and i was wondering a who is the guy with the dragon fingers and what DR would they be under your new rules?

Already been ninja'd by Alzrius on this (thanks for stepping in amigo).

That is indeed Surtur.

The reason he has the dragon-fingers is that in a 1960's Jack Kirby, Journey Into Mystery comic (The Mighty Thor) in the Tales of Asgard Surtur grows these big dragon fingers when fighting Odin.

(I would guess 7 or 8 since they dont seem to care at all about the tarrasque biting them)

As already noted by Alzrius he would be Divine Rank 7 (and Challenge Rating 40). Though in an upcoming book* (hopefully released before the end of the year) by the letter of the law he works out at CR 41 (still DR 7 though)

God Rules: Ascension - hopefully finished off by the end of August here.
God Rules: Epic Artifacts - by Halloween...I hope
*God Rules: (as yet Undisclosed new book that might have some giants) - by Christmas...I can dream can't I.

So after Ascension I am going to go on a spree of releasing much smaller books (between 64-128 pages) and hopefully I can release one every 2 months. Rather than waiting a year or so for another massive book.

I've got totally burned on the scale of the 'core' God Rules and I clearly need to work on some smaller projects and start releasing stuff.

I will build up to another Kickstarter, but I will save any Kickstarters for larger books as it takes a lot of time, effort and consternation doing a Kickstarter.

Incidentally, that Tarrasque is actually an Epic/Immortal Druid transformed into the Tarrasque that is biting Surtur's leg.

Hey Dante & Vergil amigo.

If the full PDF is done in that time, will it be up for sale to the public then?

What is likely to happen is this:

End of August = Version 0.99 released to Backers

September 10th (or so) = Version 1.0 Colour PDF ready - Backers can download

September 20th (or so) = Version 1.0 Sketch version ready - Backers can Download
PLUS Colour Hardcover available to Backers
PUBLIC Colour version (Cover A) available to Public (PDF & Physical versions)

September 30th (or so) = Version 1.0 Physical copies of Sketch version available
PUBLIC Sketch version open to Public (PDF & Physical)

So the Public will need to wait until either the Colour Version (Cover A) is physically ready or the Sketch version is physically ready before they can buy either the PDF or Print version of those versions.

Pricing:
Colour PDF = $39.99, Print version (+ PDF) = $79.99* for standard print and $99.99 for Premium Print
Black & White Sketch version PDF = $34.99, Print Version (+ PDF) = $74.99* and $94.99 for Premium Print
*+ $6 in US, £5 in UK, other shipping locations vary.

Technically the Premium Print version is $25 more than the Standard print but I think $100 is not a threshold I want to exceed.

If DrivethruRPG add some new sizes to their small print sizes to accommodate the Pathfinder 2 Pocket versions* (where I can just reduce my page sizes rather than rebuild the whole document) I will reduce all print costs by about $20 for those versions.

*6.5 x 8.4; a size Drivethru currently do not do.

Hey U_K, will the v1.0 include any example immortals associated with the Grand Purviews? If so, what is the highest divine rank entity planned to be statted in the book?

Hey buddy,

will the v1.0 include any example immortals associated with the Grand Purviews?

Only Adrasta (maybe) while it would be nice to have 'another' 8 NPC deities, I'm already at the end of my tether trying to get this book out the door (almost 9 months late) and its already 100+ pages over what was intended, plus I need to finish another 100+ pages of work in the Artifacts book and that might not even be the end of it (vis-a-vis an Epic Materials book).

So the idea of adding another 8 NPC deities in the book at this stage is far too demoralizing to contemplate.

Lets just get this book done, then I can get the Epic Artifacts book done in 6-8 weeks, then we can get on to some Monster stuff and maybe an Adventure and a bunch of smaller releases before I get my act together for the next Kickstarter.

I can have powerful NPCs and gods in later books but let me just draw a line under this one.

If so, what is the highest divine rank entity planned to be statted in the book?

8.

Everything moving according to schedule?

Hey Akira buddy,

Been super busy closing this out.

I should have the PDF done tomorrow.

Over the next couple of days I will get those out to Backers (Sketch version and Trade Dress versions will take an extra day each).

After a few days of feedback, I will get the print versions ready for Drivethru. That will take a week or two to process. They have to okay the files, then I have order physical copies and okay the books after I get them.

So should all be on sale at Drivethru by the start of October, if the stars align.
