D&D General Good min-maxes (no multiclass)

wow, people really do overvalue this spell.
It's not even that super good of a 1st level spell, 4/5 max.
I think the bigger issue, as @SlyFlourish has talked about a lot of times, is that it screws up the flow of play, by saying "hey, those actions that were just taken? Rewind those and start over." That sometimes happens by accident in the course of normal play, but Silvery Barbs makes it something that happens on demand.

5E isn't 4E, but combat is definitely pretty slow compared to many games, and Silvery Barbs' design just makes it slower.

I agree on that,
and I hate every possible mechanic of re-rolls.
I'm fine with advantage/disadvantage before hand, not after.

so simple tweak for silvery barbs for me.
you reduce the d20 roll by 5(actual roll), so you can turn a crit into a hit, or even miss if attack bonus is low compared to AC.
it's simpler, it's faster, it's not wasting resources on successful re-roll. and there is no re-rolls.
