[Green Ronin] SAGE, Simple AGE system, Engine Magazine #3

The first official product for SAGE is Wardens of the Blue Rose. This is a great fit for the narrative oriented Simple Adventure Game Engine.

In Wardens of the Blue Rose you play a warden of Aldis: a young adult charged with traveling the land and helping the people you meet. Sometimes this is as simple as raising a barn, finding a lost herd, or healing a divided community. Sometimes it means investigating dark ruins left from the fallen Empire of Thorns, or helping people fend off monsters. As Wardens, it’s your job to help–and as young people making your way through the Commonwealth of Aldis, it’s time to explore who you really are, and forge bonds of love and friendship to last a thousand adventures.

Wardens of the Blue Rose, founded in 1 hour. 176 backers so far, 21 days left. "Wardens of the Blue Rose is a full-color 192-page roleplaying game in a portable 6"×9" book format."

If you are curious, there is link to a free 37 quick start rule pdf with pre-gen characters. We get to see what a SAGE character sheet looks like.

I created a new thread for the Backerkit campaign:

This seems pretty cool. The Blue Rose setting doesn't particularly interest me, but I always liked the ideas in the AGE system from afar. I'm interested to see where a ultralight version of it goes. I'd probably pick up the Blue Rose bit for the solo aspects if they don't get included in the SAGE core book.

I have to say that 15 USD seems a bit steep for the magazine issue though.

I went ahead and picked up the SAGE issue. Pretty cool. I think it's too light for my group, but it would be interesting for a solo game. It seems like it would lend itself easily to a yes/no oracle with degrees of yes or no, and 3d6 or d66 inspiration tables.

I love that. It is basically the same premise as the Rangers of my Crossroads system, but narrowed down to a tighter setting. In Crossroads, a group chooses an Era, a home area, and some Faction and Conflict questions, but i may have to pick this up just to review and see how they handled a very specific setting version of the idea.
