Consider this a backlog to the story line. Tam-Tam, eyes wide with shock (and a little bit of terror), tries to splutter a response, then shakes his head as he looks to the ground. He begins quietly, but his voice gets stronger, even in his careful whisper: "Sylvar, I owe you, Respen, Dewydd and all the rest a great debt. Though I may have a disreputable occupation, by some people's viewpoint, and hold no truck to specific laws, I still have a personal code from my business days that will not, cannot, allow me to betray those who have taken me in as a compatriot and partner in this endeavor." He then stares boldly and firmly into Sylvar's eyes. "I do not expect you to trust my honor as a rogue and vagabond adventure; but, upon my family's name, as a halfling of some credibility, I swear that I would not betray any of you of my own free will." He then pulls his bow out, and adds: "I actually like Lathir's plan better. I can shoot using the bend of rock and earth as a cover. I can harry the Hill Giants in hopes of making their attempts less effective. Kind of like a constantly stinging mosquito, or a swarm of stirges." Tam-Tam then politely waits for a response and for what the others, who he considers as the leaders of this party, decide.
