My mom just called to say my sister is going in for emergency surgery. Her intestines are twisted or something. Today is one of those days where I haven't been able to go to sleep. I've been awake all day. Now I have to worry about my sister. I should go be with my family but I need to sleep because I have to work tonight. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

She made it through the surgery. She should be able to go home tomorrow.

I'm going to talk to her tomorrow to get details. My mom has trouble keeping details straight these days. But according to her, it could be because of my sister's gastric bypass years ago. Apparently the surgery can cause the intestine to twist over time. They caught it in time. Circulation wasn't cut off. All the had to do was untwist it and not remove any.

A couple of real winners I have heard in the past.

The sky is blue because it's reflecting the color of the oceans.

Lights, in this particular situation, florescent tube lights, ATTRACT heat. Not produce heat, which would also be wrong about florescent lights, but attracts it.

I’ve recently encountered idiots who thought we can see things because they emit light. ONLY.

IOW, the moon glows. We glow. Etc.

Obviously never figured out why we have candles, flashlights, and so forth.
