Only psychopaths orders seafood at a BBQ place. It's an insult to the meat.

I really like seafood but there's a time and place. I don't go to a seafood place and order BBQ because I'm not a psychopath. My mom gets fried catfish at a BBQ place. I'm glad I wasn't there. The shame.

I guess I’m a psychopath, then, because I’ve had some good fried catfish at BBQ joints.

As in, good enough that they probably should have been a seafood place, because the BBQ joint didn’t last.🤔

I just like to tease my mom. She has a legitimate reason for not getting BBQ. The meat is too tough and she has digestive issues. I posted that after eating leftover catfish from yesterday. 😁

I get it, and TBH, I agree. I tend to order what a restaurant SHOULD be good at, not the “accommodation dishes”, which usually AREN’T good.

There is another take out container. It has a mystery dish in it. I know it has mushrooms and a creamy sauce. I didn't dig any deeper. I'm going to let myself be surprised. No matter what it is, it has mushrooms, it can't be all bad. 🤣

That quote inspired me to work with defo not AI on something for Outgunned. Players choose a Role. That's what they do. A Trope is who they are. Florida Man is a Trope. It allows a player to choose a Role to pair with it.

Custom Trope: Florida Man

"Hold my beer and watch this."

You are unpredictable, surprisingly resilient, and completely immune to common sense. Where normal people see a fatal hazard, an illegal maneuver, or a biohazard, you just see an average Tuesday afternoon.

Trope Attributes & Skills

When you choose this Trope during character creation, add:

  • +1 Attribute: Brawn or Nerve
  • +1 Skill: Stunts, Survival, or Street

Signature Feat Options

(Choose one when creating your character)

  • Swamp Resilience: Once per mission, when you would take a Condition or enter Death's Door, you can ignore it completely by shrugging it off, taking a swig of a lukewarm energy drink, or blaming it on bad weather.
  • Improvised Madness: Spend 1 Adrenaline to pick up any random environmental object—a plastic flamingo, a ceiling fan blade, a live alligator—and use it as a weapon or tool without taking an improvised penalty. It counts as a heavy or specialized tool for that single action.
  • Chaotic Distraction: Once per scene, you can perform a wildly absurd display (screaming at a storm, removing your shirt in a high-end restaurant, or throwing a lawn chair at a drone). All enemies in the area focus their attention on you, granting your team +1d on their next action against those enemies.

Catchphrase & Tropes

  • Catchphrase Options:
    • "I've survived worse than this back home."
    • "Technically, there wasn't a sign saying I couldn't."
    • "It's fine, I know a guy."
  • Flaw/Need: Zero Risk Awareness. You physically cannot resist taking the most absurd route to solve a problem if someone doubts you can do it.
Here is a complete, table-ready Hero character sheet pairing the Florida Man Trope with the Ace Role. Meet Dale "Gator-Bait" Jenkins—a runaway lawnmower, airboat-racing, stunt-driving menace behind the wheel of anything with an engine.

OUTGUNNED HERO SHEET

HERO INFO

  • Name: Dale "Gator-Bait" Jenkins
  • Role: Ace (The Wheelman & Vehicle Specialist)
  • Trope: Florida Man
  • Catchphrase: "Technically, there wasn't a sign saying I couldn't."
  • Flaw: Zero Risk Awareness

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS

BRAWN (3)NERVE (3)SMOOTH (2)FOCUS (2)CRIME (2)

FEATS & SPECIAL ABILITIES

  • Role Feat — Born Behind the Wheel (Ace):When you are driving or piloting any vehicle, gain +1d to all Drive and Stunts rolls. You never take penalties for driving bizarre or jury-rigged vehicles.
  • Trope Feat — Improvised Madness (Florida Man):Spend 1 Adrenaline to pick up any random environmental object (a plastic flamingo, a boat paddle, a stolen golf cart) and use it as a weapon or tool without penalty. It counts as a specialized or heavy tool for that single action.

COMBAT & TRACKERS

  • Grit: [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] (6 Base)
  • Adrenaline: [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] (Max 5)
  • Spotlight: [ ]

GEAR & WEAPONRY

  • Primary Weapon: Modified Flare Gun / Sawed-off Shotgun (Damage: Heavy | Range: Short)
  • Vehicle of Choice: 1988 Ford F-150 on monster truck lifts (or a heavily modified swamp airboat)
  • Personal Items:
    • Half-empty roll of duct tape
    • Crushed can of energy drink
    • Pair of foam flip-flops
    • Bungee cords (x4)

HOW DALE PLAYS IN A SCENE

  1. Behind the Wheel: Drive + Stunts gives Dale a 4d pool while operating vehicles (5d if he pushes his luck or spends Adrenaline).
  2. On the Foot Run: Use Improvised Madness to turn lawn furniture or power tools into high-impact weapons when ambushed.
  3. Taking Hits: High Brawn (3) and points in Endure let Dale shrug off bad crashes that would end a normal getaway driver.

I went with the Ace Role for this build. This dude will drive anything. It doesn't mean he can drive it. He'll give it that ol' Florida Man try. Put this guy in a Fast and the Furious flick and let him rip. He might be The Bandit in Smokey and the Bandit. The stunt driver for those jobs The Fallguy wouldn't even do.

I mentioned my projector setup. I'm still working on it.

"Well, how nice..."

Too many call-outs at work lately had me receiving my second written warning about two weeks ago. Then Thursday night I'm getting ready to go to work, hustling a bit because I want to stop for gas on the way in, but I realize I still have a load of wet clothes in the washing machine and decide to throw them in the dryer.
I quickly take an armload of clothes out of the dryer and dump it on the living room couch for when I come home. But I had accidentally dropped a sock in the hall, and as I'm running back out to the living room with the second armload of clothes from the dryer I step on the sock.
I hadn't put my shoes on yet, just my socks, so sock plus sock equals Jack on his back... :(

Fortunately I didn't pull a full Chaplin, really more of one of the controlled Judo back-falls I practiced in a long-ago Parks-and-Rec class, but I landed heavier on one side than the other, and the impact kind of jarred my back. Also bonked my head just a bit.
The adrenaline rush of the fall and running late got me back on my feet, dressed, and halfway to work before it wore off. And I had to pull over and stop to call out again. I didn't have a concussion, and my back didn't lock completely up, but I realized there was no way I was going to be able to function at work that night.

Bad news is that calling out again has resulted in a three-day suspension from work. So... I get to have a reeeeeally long weekend, but won't be getting paid for Friday, Monday night or Tuesday night.

Yay me.

I'm going to find a reason to blame AI and data centers for this.
