She wanted to make it clear "before you get your hopes up" that I was too old for her. I just liked talking to her. I'm too self conscious to have gone beyond friendly chatter at work. She's way way out of my league. I know what I'm working with. If I were her I wouldn't want to date me either. I mentioned this to a guy I work with, he told me he had said something to her. Since he was the only one I talked to I figured it was him. He then told me something she had said about me. I'm too embarrassed to say what it is. It's not good. Luckily, some nights we don't even see each other. Some nights it's just in passing. I told her I was just trying to be friendly and talk to someone. My job is lonely. It's nice to have people to chat with for a few minutes before taking off to be alone. My circle is getting ever smaller instead of larger.
