Has Dungeon changed or am I only just now noticing it?

I just read through the Torog and Vaasa articles in this month's Dungeon and was blown away by how good, and useful, they both were to me.

For the longest time I've ignored Dungeon as I generally found it to be of little use to me. Such staged adventures rarely, if ever, worked for me, either to run or even just to read.

But the Torog article was awesome. That has actually spawned a myriad of ideas for my current campaign and the artwork was amazing. The Vaasa article as well inspired me to incorporate that into my campaign at some time too and again, the artwork and maps were superb.

So has there been a recent change in what Dungeon produces or have I been missing out on all this great content for who knows how long?

Relatively recent. Previously, Dungeon magazine consisted of adventures, and Dragon consisted of articles and supplementary content. They decided to change it, and make Dragon focus entirely on player content and options, and place all DM info - such as setting content, big bads like Torog, and so forth - in Dungeon.

A change I approve of, since Dungeon had similarly been of little use to me. And it seems to have resulted in more content overall, along with more opportunities for new writers to break into the magazines. And while some of those new articles might be short or feel like filler, many others are definitely works of quality, such as the Torog article from this week, or the Vaasa or Sehanine articles from last week.

Heck; it's even encouraged me to submit an article proposal. We'll see if they bite, though. :)

Huh, I never really noticed that the Channel Divinity articles were Dungeon. The division between the two publications is kinda blurred given they're all just pixels now.

I only check out Dungeon now, all the DM specific stuff is there. Dragon is just more player options. Not my cupa tea*.

I was starting to feel that way until I looked at one or two of the articles in Dragon. There's more DM-useful fluff in them than first appears. Not a whole lot, mind you, but more than you might think.
