Healing Questions

First Post
A character in my game has a Healer's Brooch (AV p. 152). It applies to a bonus to all healing the character grants (regardless of whether surges are used in the healing). My questions are:

(1) Would you apply this to regeneration (such as is granted with the Melora's Tide Channel Divinity power)?

(2) In light of the recent nerfs to surge-less healing, do you think it was an oversight by WotC that they failed to also nerf this item? I.e., should we expect an errata to come out saying that the bonus from Healer's Brooch only applies when a character regains hit points by spending a surge?

Thanks for your insights!

1.) No, for the same reason Healer's Lore never applied to regeneration effects.

2.) I doubt it. Healer's Lore nerf was targeted at a specific cleric build, that'd be a nerf to every leader. To a degree.

Kel - You should read the book entries on Healing and Regeneration. I'm pretty sure that regeneration is NOT healing and therefore something like Healer's Lore class power and the Healer's Brooch and Healer's Armor do not stack with regeneration powers. I believe it would still stack on a power like Astral Seal, which recently got nerfed. Somebody else smarter than I would have to comment for sure about that one.

I'm not seeing any rule stating that Healer's Lore (before the recent nerf) did not apply to regeneration effects. For some reason, I THOUGHT that was the rule (that regeneration was NOT healing), but I don't know why I thought that. And now that I'm looking it up, I can't find the answer.

People on other threads seem to think healing bonuses apply to regeneration effects.

They clarified it at some point, regeneration is not healing, by RAW. PHB FAQ entry.

20. If I use a prayer that gives regeneration such as Divine Power, do I add my bonus from Healer’s Lore to the power?
No. The Healer’s Lore feature does not apply to regeneration effects, even if those powers have the Healing keyword.

Pretty sure the chapter prior to Rituals in the PHB1 where it describes regeneration says that it's not healing. Therefore, you'd get no bonus from healing equipment. Unless they changed it since the last time I asked about Healer's Lore and regeneration myself about 6 months ago, but the forums were pretty unified about this fact.

What does that have to do with the Healer's Brooch? The wording is completely different.

Healer's Brooch allows you to add the enhancement bonus when you use a power that enables you or an ally to regain hit points. Regeneration allows you to regain a specified number of hit points.

I'll grant that I'm working out of the Compendium, as I don't have my books with me... but I don't see the connection. The keyword Healing has nothing to do with as near as I can tell.

Let's try a different tack.

You're not granting healing.

You're granting a creature the ability "Regenerate X".

Healer's brooch applies to healing effects YOU have, not healing abilities you impart to others.
