Help me pick out some good d20 products

First Post
I just got a gift certificate that I can use to buy some books, and would like some ideas on what to get. I mainly am looking for alternate rule or rule expansion type books as I already have a great many settings.

I have given the new Demon Hunters Handbook a couple of glances online, has anyone been able to look through it yet.
I've also been looking around for a good book dealing with elemental type casters and or races.

The mongoose books, classic play Book of planes, immortals, and hell look interesting, but don't know much about those.

With how much d20 products that come out each month, it is sometimes hard to keep up with it all. There are probably a bunch of really good products that I have missed over the last few months.

Thanks for any ideas or info.

There area lot of good books out there, so it depends on your needs. Of the ose Mongoose ones the Planes is very good. Settings were really strong this year, but since you say you don't need any of those then we'll skip past that. If you need a monster book there are many good choices. I know you want to use the gift cirtificate, but Atlas has their very good Bestiary for 15$ on line at e23 (details can be found in the publisher fourm about this).

Thanks for the responses so far. I do have the Unearthed Arcana, very good book. I have probably 90% of the general WOTC 3.5 books, however I have found that there are some 3rd party products that are done better than Wizards that cover the same things. The hard part is finding them.

I will look into Mongooses plane book some more.

I am also looking at bottled Imp games zombie, lich, vampire books as well.

For good rules expansions that build upon the existing d20 rules or complement them nicely, my suggestions are:

* Arms & Armor v3.5 (Bastion Press)
* Torn Asunder: Critical Hits (Bastion Press)
* Pale Designs: A Poisoner's Handbook (Bastion Press)
* Poisoncraft (Blue Devil Games)
* Wildscape (Fantasy Flight Games)
* Portals & Planes (Fantasy Flight Games)
* Cityworks (Fantasy Flight Games)
* Dungeoncraft (Fantasy Flight Games)
* Advanced Bestiary (Green Ronin)
* Unholy Warrior's Handbook (Green Ronin)
* Advanced Player's Manual (Green Ronin)
* Advanced GameMaster's Manual (Green Ronin)
* Psychic's Handbook (Green Ronin)
* Spellbound (Living Imagination)
* Book of Roguish Luck (Malhavoc)
* Book of Iron Might (Malhavoc)
* Complete Book of Eldritch Might (Malhavoc)
* Monsternomicon v3.5 (Privateer Press)
* Unearthed Arcana (Wizards of the Coast) - but I see you already have that one.

Cool!! will look those books up.

I am also looking for a potential product that expands the summon monster, natures ally, etc... Basically something that might expand the list of summonable monsters/animals, and or alter them in some way.

I'm not sure anyone has done anything like this.

And I support Ghostwinds list, that's a good collection of books there. :cool:

Green Ronin's Advanced Beastiary is a book full of cool templates that can change an ordinary monster into something very different, adding a CR or 2, this might be perfect for adding options to your summoned creatures.

Green Ronin/Game Mechanics Thieves Quarter and Temple Quarter books are great if you need a city resource.

Chaositech by Malhavoc is an all time favorite for new/strange gear, as is the Slarecian Legacy book ( wriitten for the Scarred Lands, but you can use it ) by Sword & Sorcery.

The Fantasy Flight books mentioned by others are good, but the Dungeoncraft and Cityworks book are written for Journeyman DM's IMO. But still very good, especially if you are a journeyman!

I'm intrigued by the Book of Iron Might, but fear that might mean radical changes to the game.

Don't forget to check out the ENnie nominations too, they are always good books:

Advanced Player's Guide, Sword Sorcery D20 had some interesting new rule material in it, but alos some stuff I didn't care for, but I could say the same for Unearthed Arcana, so if you liked that book, check it out.

I don't have it , but I'm also interested in Necromancers new spells compedium /magic book , Eldritch Sorcery http://secure1.white-wolf.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=41&products_id=652

need more ideas?

I'd recommend also taking a look at Dweomercraft: Familiars by Dark Quest Games. The expanded familiar options just might help with your summoned creatures needs.
