Help with a "Mind player" Character

Kousho Akira

First Post
Well Good night everyone ^^"

...I'm doing a Succubus Warlock 13 in a "almost epic" campaing here in Brazil... I mean "almost epic" becausa the GM rules do not use ECL, olny HD on races [unless " ELC+HD > 20 "]...So the succubus I gonna play is, in total, a 19 lvl character.

Like the title says, "Mind player", is because Im thinking to do the succubus be a mindbender in future, or something to "control minds"...But I looked some topics in the forum and says mindbender is "not so good"...Then i will need some help ^^"

Lynola, Succubus Warlock 13:

For [ 15 ] [Dice roll 13 + 2 racial]
Des [ 19 ] [Dice roll 17 + 2 racial]
Cons [ 18 ] [Dice roll 16 + 2 racial]
Int [ 22 ] [Dice roll 16 + 6 racial]
Sab [ 20 ] [Dice roll 16 + 4 racial]
Car [ 38 ] [Dice roll 18 + 16 racial and + 4 from the +1 each 4 lvls]

Feats:
Ability Focus (Eldritch Blast)
Practiced Spellcaster*
Fiendish Heritage
Fiendish Power*
Extra Invocation [4x]

I chose Practiced Spellcaster And Fiendish Power to have a +5 Caster LvL so I would be able to have more effects on some invocations

Invocations:
ø Least
Sickening Blast
Eldritch Spear
Frightful Blast
Beguiling Infl uence
Entropic Warding
Dark one's Own Luck

ø Lesser
Charm
Eldritch Chain
Flee the Scene
Brimstone Blast

ø Greater
Eldritch Cone
Repelling Blast

I will really apreciate helps and suggestions for the char ^^" the GM aceppts almost all 3~3.5 E books[As I use a lod and he never said anything against it]

Well...Gonna Sleep...Test Tomorrow...Bye ^^

Succubi don't have a +16 racial bonus to Charisma or most of those other racial bonuses you listed. You don't determine a monstrous race's racial bonuses simply by subtracting 10 from their stats in the monster manual. Those stats are figured using the nonelite array, plus hit die bonuses and then racial bonuses. In this case it still looks like they have a +12 racial bonus to charisma (base 13 from array, +1 from 4 hd, and +12 racial).

And looking at your character I see that all your DIE rolls are 16-18 (with the exception of a stat that is worthless to you).

Charm based characters are not fun in actual gameplay for anyone other than the player running them. Nothing you ever fight will be able to make the savings throws that a 40+ casting score (once you add the +6 stat bump item and other magic boosts to that ridiculous starting 38 that you will certainly defend) and thus the gamemaster will be forced to throw nothing but charm immune creatures at you.

Any work you put into making this character "better" will only make the game less fun for all involved.

Well... the +16 I saw in a link the master gave...AND in the Savage Species...

I'm Doin that character because the others players[and GM] wanna create characters overpowered and powerabusers.

But Ok...thanks for the help

The other characters in your party may overshadow you when it comes to power. Warlock is balanced, not in the same class as, say, full casters.

As long as you're going Warlock, I'd suggest taking levels of Hellfire Warlock (can be found online on the Wizards website, google it) and dipping into a Tome of Magic class called the Binder to offset the Constitution loss by binding Naeberus for the ability to quickly heal ability damage or taking a feat from Magic of Incarnum called Shape Soulmeld for a Strongheart Vest.

The Shape Soulmeld feat is stronger, but more likely to run into rules interpretation issues (I believe it works, your mileage may vary). Binding requires you to learn a bit about the pact magic system in Tome of Magic, and is a bit weaker in terms of healing your ability damage, but you do get a boost in versatility.

I know it's not about mind crushing, but you loose virtually nothing by taking Hellfire Warlock and it gives you a few decent abilities.

By the way, you should check out the Warlock Information Compilation for more character building advice. Your invocation selection could use some work. Sickening Blast and Frightful Blast aren't very good.

While we're on the topic of invocations, Cityscape, Complete Mage, and Dragon Magic have new invocations for warlocks, I believe. They may be useful.

Wow...Thanks ^^...

I already have looked binder but never understand the class @.@

I saw the link with informations about warlock...Helped A LOT!

But...I can't understand Shape Soulmeld...I read the feat but coudn't think how can help[this was the 1° time I saw this Feat] ^^"

Hellfire Warlock does one point of Con damage each time you use a Hellfire Blast.

Shape Soulmeld: Strongheart Vest reduces ability damage by one.

Thus, you take no damage from using the Hellfire Blast. At the same time, you are not immune to ability damage (much like the Barbarian with DR/1 isn't immune to physical damage) so you still meet the requirement of the class.

Note that other more restrictive rulings may also be valid. Check with your DM, because this is a rather cheesy intepretation.

A Binder works by summoning "spirits" (vestiges) and hosting them in your body. You must meet a set Binding DC to determine whether you or the vestige controls the body. In event of failure, your behavior is greatly influenced by the vestige.

Well...

He said right now something like: "if I have a DR/1 like a barbarian I'm immune 1 to physical damage" and said I coudn't use helllfire warlock with this feat you talked

again, thanks ^^"
