IIRC, Tim Kring claimed that he'd learned from the lessons of season 2, and that his creative team wouldn't make the same mistakes again.

So they'll make different mistakes with season 3 (and almost certainly won't fix the mistake they've made since season 1, and will leave Peter and Sylar alive), but I'll keep watching the show anyway. At least, assuming one of the lessons they did learn was that Heroes is not horror, and to leave the overly creepy and/or bloody for some other show.

It's been awhile since I saw season 2... what "mistakes" did they make?

I found too many things a rehash of season 1.

The prophetic paintings, even though the artist is dead. More 'govt' conspiracy. More disasters potentially caused by the 'Heroes'. Too many characters and too little time devoted to them. The pretty obvious handicapping of the three most powerful Heroes (Hiro, Peter and Sylar)

Season 2 wasn't as great as 1...but I'll keep watching. Even if some things are a bit sketchy here and there, its still better than most stuff on TV and I am, admittedly, pretty forgiving.

What Heroes did wrong: Introduced the Honduran death twins and not having INS kill them off. Not killing of Sylar (aka Mr Plot Device) or Peter (aka the DMPC). Killing off D-Lo. Not killing off Mohinder. Introducing Emo Stalker Flying Boy and making him fall in love with Claire. Rehashing season one's Bennett family plotline and the MacGruffen Painting plotline. Time Travel plot hook. Giving Peter a love interest then conveniently writing her out of the story by making Peter leave her in the future then having him forget about her existence. Giving Peter the ability to read peoples minds when it's convenient for him to do so and not when it would be logical for him to do so. RESIGNING CAST MEMBERS WHOSE CHARACTERS DIED DURING IN SEASON 2.

What Heroes did right: Killing off one of the Honduran death twins (Maya still needs to die). Getting rid of Emo Stalker Flying Boy. Giving Mr Moggles more screen time then Lyle Bennett. Making Hiro become a bad ass.

Does this have any spoilers for season 2? (It's only just arrived in the UK, and I'm up to ep5 of season 2)

Cheers

It is a very generic "Hey, we're gearing up for season 3. Here are some tag lines and pictures of popular characters that will make you want to see more of them." However, the images may spoil a little.

Without the images, the following tag lines flash across the video

Fall 2008
Good will battle Evil
Because in every hero
There could be a villain ("could be" in red letters in the video)

It then flashes images of some popular characters with the word "Hero" or "Villain" under their picture. Then the image flips to show the same character with the opposing word ("Hero/Villain") under their picture.

Heroes: Villains. This fall

As for the spoiler aspect of it, it does take some paying attention to realize it is a spoiler....
It shows Nathan and Niki/Jessica's picture despite their uncertain fate at the end of season 2. I have theories but that is for another thread for another time. Of course, given the possibility of time travel, they could just be there for scenes set in the past.... though I doubt it. So while not a spoiler for season 2 exactly, it is a spoiler of season 3....

While I will admit that season 2 felt weak to me for various reasons, a lot of those reasons were mentioned by Tim Krig (sp)? when he was addressing mistakes he knew they made that last season. And, all that aside, it's a show, and while not perfect, it still continues to be "all in good fun" for me. So I'll continue to watch it.

Hey hey hey, I'm not done looking at Maya yet. She's my kind of beautiful.

But Sylar and Peter both ought to go.
