First time I've seen an "Under Construction" in the signature space, Truth Seeker.

Anyway, I had to tune out halfway through. It was becoming evident they were meandering again. Hiro's lost touch with reality once more and retreated into his own little world of arrested development. One thing that strikes me as odd during his marketplace schpiel is that for all of his sci-fi references, he rarely if ever makes any relating to his own culture, which in and of itself is probably the richest source of fantastic fiction in the whole world.

Hiro hasn't lost touch with reality, but has lost the ability to communicate clearly. It was made pretty clear during the episode, and in fact Ando figured it out and was able to "translate" for Hiro. Hiro is perfectly rational, but can't speak normally as a result of whatever creepy dreadlock carnie did to him the last episode.

And Hiro references American geek culture for a couple of reasons. It's made clear since episode 1, season 1, that Hiro worships Western geek culture. And, more importantly, your average Heroes-watching American tv audience wouldn't get similar references to Japanese geek culture.

it was an okay set of episodes. not 'bad' but not 'great at the edge of my seat either'
though, admitedly, on a personal level the funeral scene brought back certain recent memories, so i was in an off mood to begin with.

i was dissapointed with the way the doyle/claire scene ended. it was a great build up but the resolution left me feeling like it was a cop out.

on the other hand, the speedster/noah scene resolution also felt like a copy out BUT it felt perfectly in character for the speedster so I wasn't as miffed by it.

Random (and inconsequential) question -- did we see that resturant before.. i keep thinking we saw it back in volume 2 or 3, with Hiro and his father.

Seems to be trudging along. At least we know that Samuel is actually a step up power-wise as a villain from previous seasons. The writers seem to be exploring gray areas as much as possible which doesn't seem to work very well in the superhero genre, IMO.

Samuel is definitely interesting and not the standard "evil villain". It's to bad he still seems to be one. The way he manages to connect with people is awesome.

What I wouldn't give for a few Sentai references....
