ere ya go... enjoy: Also, the term was first introduced at Gencon, and Itis used in the recently released GhotR. Basically, it is an armageddon-level catastrophe (RSE) that changes the Realms as we know it forever. What little we know from GHotR - Spoiler: So far, all we know for sure is that it begins in 1385 DR, Mystra is killed, Mages go insane, and Magic takes a holiday. My newest theory, BTW, is that Abeir is the part of Toril that had advance up until the time of the Sundering. When the Elves High Magic Ritual reached back in time and changed the way the world formed, it actually created a divergent timeline (Toril). So we have two seprate FR's, and they will come crashing back together again when magic fails, causing a veritable 'Merging of two worlds'. With that, they can cover any changes they wish to make, and modify canon as they see fit. Anything could have arisen on that alternate Faerûn; Different magical traditions, new or different gods, Warforged, Changelings, Elves may have been called something else, Gnomes may never have achieved a place of prominence amongst the other races, Demons and Devils may have evolved into different creatures entirely... You see, using existing canon, one can go back and litterally 'erase' canon.
