Holy Implement restricted to its God?

My friends and I, who are new to 4E, are running the Shadowfell campaign and have come accross the +1 Holy Implement of Bahamut in the excavation room. My question is, is this item restricted only to worshippers of Bahamut? It's a +1 Symbol of Battle, but it is described in the adventure as if it is specific to Bahamut. Thanks in advance!

Were I the dungeon master, I would rule that a simple liturgy done in a shrine to your own god would rededicate the symbol to your god. The divine character himself should be able to perform it. Indeed, the divien character should be able to build himself a small roadside shrine from a pile of rocks if he must. Or even dedicate a table and a room in the Keep as a shrine. No need to throw up a roadblock at the players about treasure: it is supposed to be a reward after all. But it sounds like an opportunity to roleplay.

Well, if 6th level the Transfer Enchantment ritual would make it easy, but it sounds as if you are not there yet.

In that case, as with many items like this, I would allow the character to change its focus during a short rest.

I believe it should work for anyone in favour of bahamut, which clearly everyone who tries to clear the keep is.

It was an interesting scene later, when the cleric didn´t really know if she should follow the warforged fighter and pray to bahamut or to her god corellon.

So it comes down to player decision if he is willing to wear the symbol of a different god for the greater good. ;)

There is no rule forbidding it, if it was a holy symbol of "Evil Bob god; the puppy killer" you technically could still use it for Correllion's purpose.

That being said, its good for you to roleplay a solution, it makes for a much better story. Offer the DM a reasonable solution, or if you're the DM go ahead and give the player a couple of options.

It's kinda ironic, with modern players worrying about which god to pray to - because ancient peoples in a pantheistic rarely devoted themselves to a single god or goddess. Priests might be a votary of a particular god, but that wouldn't stop them from "consulting" another god in the pantheon if the need arose.

I'd remind your player that unless the god they worship is in conflict with a particular god, there should be no negative onus for utilizing a focus from a different deity. Your Corellon priest should have no problem "consulting" a Bahamutite focus to destroy an great evil.

Now, all bets are off when they find that Banite focus...

Eh, Correlon is described as an unaligned deity. He's also described as being opposed to cruelty, but he's not dedicated to the cause of good above all else. If a symbol of Bane happened to fall into your priest's hands, well why not use it if it serves Correlon's ends or doesn't undermine them.

Interestingly the 4e rules don't really say a cleric HAS to worship one single god either. Depending on how you interpret the text in the cleric class description I see nothing which forces a cleric to worship only one god. CD feats for instance say "Must worship X", but nowhere in the rules is there one which states you can't take CD feats of multiple gods or worship multiple gods. To the contrary there is text saying some clerics DO worship multiple gods or even "philosophies". Use of holy symbols is less of a commitment to a god than taking a CD feat. So surely any cleric can use symbols of gods they don't directly worship and technically ANY symbol at all.

But the RP aspects are cool. The PCs in my party disenchant or transfer any symbol they don't like.

I really have no problems with my cleric using this symbol or praying to bahamut.^^

I just thought it was funny that she worried about. She was already too late before deciding. The warforged fighter's player has a talent to do the right thing at the right time, no matter how unlikely i thought it would be that a player will finf the solution.
