Hospitaler questions

Joker

First Post
Hello,

I had a few questions about the Paladin Paragon Path the Hospitaler.

1.) Hospitaler's Blessing: I'm assuming that the healing is only triggered by attacks coming from a creature that you targeted with Divine Challenge and not ones that are simply marked through Divine Sanction.
Do items or abilities which give your Divine Challenge multiple uses (i.e. Bradaman's Weapon) trigger the healing effect aswel? Would you consider it too strong if it did?

2.) Healing Font: It says that your ally gets 1d6 x (Charisma modifier) healing. Is that suppose to be a 'plus' or is it really 'times?'

I get this information from the Character Builder as my Player's Handbook is in a pile of important papers that I should really look through in the next couple of months.

As far as I can tell:

1) Yes it is only things that are 'challenged' will trigger the healing so I assume that it means things that have divine challenge but on them and not a generic mark or divine sanction.

In the case of Bradaman's weapon this works as Bradaman's weapon just changes the amount of targets the divine challenge gains from 1 to 2, thus both of those targets are challenged and will heal people they attack. It won't be too powerful as you still need to engage the target thus stand next to them or attack them with something else, otherwise the challenge disappears.

For other powers, I'm not sure, you'll probably have to look at them as per a case by case basis. (I.e. only ones that allow you to 'challenge' a target will work and not an extra mark/sanction.)

2) Edit: Slight correction: As far as the compedium is concerned it is times. However I can't seem to pin down the actual errata document for it.

The latest Update (May 2010) has no entry concerning this problem. But I think it is more reasonable that a lvl12 utility power heals 1d6 + WIS mod than 1d6 times WIS mod.

It's clearly intended to be "x", or times. It appeared originally in the Player's Handbook as "[ts]", and was actually clarified in errata to "x".

The thinking is probably that most paladins will have a fairly low Wisdom, since they have Strength AND Charisma to focus on, plus have some real need for Constitution as well, as a defender.

And it's a daily power in a paragon path specialized in healing. Is it powerful? Yeah. But I don't think it's game-breaking, all things considered.

The fact that they specifically put in errata on that very power stating that it's supposed to say "x" there really seals it for me, though.
