How to be immortal ?

Just curious. Within the rules (core rules prefered, but any source is fine), beside turning into a undead, how could someone be immortal ? There's no longevity potions anymore...

I'm know BoVD has some rules for extending your life span, and I think you could do it forever. The big drawback, as I'm sure you could guess, is that it involves doing something really terrible and hideous on a fairly regular basis. I don't remember the details, but it was clearly VILE and would only be performed by the most evil of beings. Hope that helps.

easy, easy.

You need access to the gate spell (9th level, cleric and wizard), and the craft rod feat.
Just make two rod of security (see DMG), and stay in your pocket paradise all the time. You will need to stay only one round on the prime per year (when switching from rod1 to rod2, so you will age 6 second every 365 days. Average longevity is multiplied by 5256000, so an elf (700 years usualy IIRC) may live 3 679 200 000 years before dying of old age. I think that's enough time to reach the divine rank 1, which will make you really immortal.

Another way... If you have a high level characther : wizard 18, druide 7. Just use contingency with reincarnate if you die (of old age), then a wish to retrieve your original race. You will have a new youg adult body, and a new life to recover your XP and level loss.

If you're really rich and have good connection, get Druids to Reincarnate you everytime you die, and then use a Wish or simple Polymorph to assume your old form. A level every 70 or so years isn't much to pay for functional immortality.

Reincarnate create a new young adult body. Anyway, it is logical that reincarnate bring back a character who died of old ge : ask the budhist :D
