I love I love the 80s/90s

That's Latin for "cool"
I'm such a tool.

I dig these shows. It's fun to watch them with my wife and compare notes about where we were when all that stuff was happening. This can be embarassing as she's a lot cooler than I am and was a lot more hip to the underground stuff than the pop culture stuff.

Anyhoo. Am I the lone voice in the night on this one?

Yes, you are alone in the dark

This is actually quite a coincidence. While eating lunch at work "I love the 90's" was on the TV. I commented to my brother that while it is amusing to make sarcastic comments with your friends about different trends/styles/events in times past, it isn't very amusing to watch others do it - especially if those others have no more (and sometimes less) talent at doing it.

Plus, just who are some of these people who get on these programs? Everytime I see the "media personality" tag I wonder - if thats all they have to do, how can i get such an easy job? A couple of them have been on since they began these programs and have been upgaded from media personality to actor/comedian.

I've never seen the I love the 90's but I am totally down with I love the 80's and I love the 70's. I'll sit down on a Sunday and watch the 4 hour marathon.

Ah, VH-1. The new crack. One hit, and you're addicted.

Yes, I love these shows, and the others that VH-1 reruns all the time-100 Best Heavy Metal Moments, 50 Most Awsomely Bad Songs Ever, any Behind the Music or Driven (even people I don't like), and any of the top 100 countdowns. I usually can't stand to watch TV, but for some reason these shows keep sucking me in.

I don't get VH-1 but have seen these shows and they can be fun, but I love the 90's???? They just friggin ended. I mean might as well run, I love July 12th 2004.

I Love the 90s is creepy because I was actually there. I remember this stuff! I got that nostalgia-lite from the first two that comes from pop culture that you never witnessed, but when Power Rangers or Barney or whatever shows up, and you find yourself nodding in recognition, it's a little scary.

But I like these shows. A good source for my daily dose of snide.

Demiurge out.

I agree. It's great mindless entertainment but becomes very addictive very fast. I mean, it's fun to watch and who wants to stop having a good time?

That's partly why I liked the "I Love the 80's" and "I Love the 80's Strikes Back" more than "I Love the 90's" so far. Having graduated high school in 1989, the 80's really are the years I grew up in and the years I still have the fondest memories of (particularly the mid-late 80's).

And I didn't even bother watching "I Love the 70's" when it aired late last year... I'm sure that it was funny and informative and all that, but the 70's really meant nothing to me.

But even putting all that aside, it just seems that (so far) "I Love the 90's" isn't as well-done as either of the "I Love the 80's" shows - comparitively, something just seems to be missing.

But yeah, I'll continue watching the rest of the "I Love the 90's" series to see how it all turns out.
