I've written a couple of negative 4e things lately, so I thought I would balance it out with a few positives.
For one, the warlord is a great class!! For anyone who has ever wanted to play the great general, or the charismatic inspiring fighter, this is the class for you. Your powers mainly help the party, but you can still hold your own in combat.
I played a 1st level charismatic warlord, and then tried some combats as a 12th warlord/hardened veteran. Probably what stood out the most were my encounters and dailies often gave big bonuses to the party.
When anyone else was rolling for a power, the table would cheer them on. But when I announced I was using a daily, the whole table was on the edge of their seats, because we all know I wasn't using a power, the PARTY was using a power. That's the influence of the warlord.
So feel free to the give the class a try, I highly recommend it and want to personally congratulate the designers on a job well done.
