Homebrew Ideas for a 2-character/player Pathfinder 2e/Starfinder 2e campaign?

First of all, what I mean by 2 characters per player is that this is not about having a Pathfinder character end up in a Starfinder setting through whatever science fantasy shenanigans. This is having one PF character and one SF character for each player.

This is inspired by this fall's official Cosmere RPG campaign. It will take place in the Mistborn setting and will have players create one Mistborn Era 1 character and one Mistborn Era 2 character. Part of the campaign will take place in Era 1 (~1800s era tech) part will take place in Era 2 (~1920s tech) Since it isn't out yet, I have no idea how they'll tie it together into one cohesive story, but the idea is interesting.

Second, I know there's one very easy way to do this (which might even be suggested in the Galaxy Guide) - that planet or moon (Salvation's End?) that is full of simulation chambers. Have the PF part be in the sim chamber. Then you can EITHER have those characters "wake up" and you re-roll SF characters - or run them as PF players in a SF world OR the SF part is a second set of characters who is investigating Salvation's End and eventually frees the PF characters.

Thoughts on how you guys would run this?

That's tough, because you are essentially running two games at once. I would probably try to limit it into parts rather than running them at the same time. For example, think of it like having chapters. Once you get to point X your players then tag into the new characters and timeline based on the progress of the storyline. That doesn't mean that you can't go back, but you just won't bound back game to game. I have had some experience with what I would call tag out characters in a set game that gave me a challenge as a gm, because I was constantly writing for one set of characters only to be surprised with another set when the game started. It led to a lot of improv, which I really do not like to do.
