Is it soda or pop?

Whatever do you call those sweet carbonated beverages?

I call it soda, but I acknowledge both as being equally valid. Ditto with "soda pop," if you don't want to play favorites.

It was "pop" where I grew up in Southeastern Kansas, but "soda" here in Colorado.

I think we did this last year. I usually say soda but I like to confuse people by asking for a soda pop. Here in the South it's Coke and in Texas it's Dr. Pepper.

I hear soda and think of the Pixies, though growing up in Texas they called them a coke.
