If you mean the type of card sleeve that goes in a binder that's what I did. Thought I'd gotten cards to work for me at last. But that meant they got put in a quarter inch thick binder along with that character sheet while my characters for everything else go in folders, which is why my player materials for that game, and that game alone, with its comparatively bulky binder, got removed from my ttrpg backpack, which is why I can't find them now. I think I left them at my parents' house across town and am currently debating whether I prefer making a special trip to fetch them or just recreating the character from scratch before my group comes off hiatus in a couple days (without the cards, which are silly since I know what my abilities do and have them all in the book should I forget). The cards aren't cumbersome if you buy some cheap trading card sleeve sheets.
With that addition, they become a way to make a sheet modular, without folks having to copy over the choices they've made every level. Nothing silly about that.
I've been on the card ride, I regret buying my ticket. Card sleeves were just another thing I wasted money on along the way.
