Hi guys, Mongoose Publishing is expanding this year and, as we move into new territory, we find ourselves in need of another full-time Staff Writer to join our growing Design Studio. The position involves following guidelines and project plans to produce final draft manuscripts of roleplaying and miniatures games rulebooks and supplements. Projects will involve working on D20 and OGL systems in our established roleplaying lines, including Babylon 5, Conan, Starship Troopers and Lone Wolf, as well as our growing range of miniatures-based games. You will also have a chance to pursue your own projects and write games and supplements of your own creation. Mongoose Publishing is a demanding but fun place to work in, staffed by people who enjoy fantasy and science fiction gaming on all levels. The candidate will be required to work from home. This position has a starting salary of $18,000 per annum. The right candidate will find this very quickly increases, based on performance. The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements. * Able to work to deadlines while maintaining absolute accuracy. * Experience in a writing, editing or proof-reading position. * Intimate knowledge of several RPG systems, including D20 and OGL variants. * Intimate knowledge of several miniatures game systems. * A passion for games and gaming. * Computer literate (Windows-based preferred) * Excellent skills in written English, time management and planning are essential. * Knowledge of our existing products would be a distinct advantage. Suitable applicants will be given a project to work on in order to demonstrate their writing and time management skills. This project will have a deadline of one month and require knowledge of either the Conan, Lone Wolf or Babylon 5 RPGs. Even if you do not gain the job, we will consider offering contracts to those who do produce publishable work and so a good writer can look forward to seeing his work published regardless of whether he gets the job or not. However, be warned that the projects we set tend to weed the men from the boys (as, indeed, they are intended to). We normally get well over 200 applicants for Staff Writer positions - we expect to receive perhaps 10 completed manuscripts at the end of the application process. The project itself will likely be around 30,000+ words in size. Please note that while this may sound like a dream job for those looking to make a real entry into this industry, it entails hard work and a lot of it. You will be given deadlines and be expected to meet them, each and every month. If this sounds like you, please send a CV/resume and a covering letter to msprange@mongoosepublishing.com
