John Blanche Has Passed Away

I just saw the news that John Blanche has passed away. If you were a gamer in the 80s and/or 90s, you definitely saw his pieces. He practically created the look of Warhammer 40K, and his dark art was super influential everywhere else in gaming. I know my favourites are his Fighting Fantasy pieces, especially in Steve Jackson's Sorcery!. In his honour, why don't we share our favourite John Blanche pieces? Aw man, his artwork was amazing. Sorcery was such a hugely important part of my early gaming life, back in the days where I wanted to play D&D but didn’t have anyone to play with.

Last year I got on board for a limited run of signed and numbered posters of this art. Really glad I did.

This tragic loss gives me extra impetus to get mine framed and hung in my game room.

I knew Games Workshop distributed early D&D rulebooks in the UK . . . but I didn't know they published early D&D rulebooks in the UK . . . neat!

Blanche was a unique and visionary fantasy and scifi artist, he will be missed.
