Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd

Hey, guys.

I know that Johnny Cash did a cover of a Pink Floyd song. I don't know which song it is, though, or which Cash album I can find it on.

Help me out?

I'm not certain I know of one (and I'm pretty familiar with his body of work), but I think you can safely bet that if it exists, it is on CASH vols 1-4 from Def American recordings.

The closest I could come up with was when Johnny Cash covered NIN's "Hurt," did a video for it which got nominated for and won an MTV Music Video Award.

I really can't recommend the albums Danny and I have mentioned highly enough.

They've been in constant rotation in our house car for about the last year and a half.

I always thought the interview he gave before the release of the "Hurt" video was cool- he complemented Reznor as a deep and soulful songwriter...someone who understood pain and living...

Then he delivered that raspy, dirgelike version of Reznor's work that was stunning in its simplicity. A real jaw dropper.

I always liked JC. I always deeply respected him.

THAT made me buy.

Here's a link to Johnny's covers album. I'm no Pink Floyd expert (or fan, really) so I can't tell you if any of these songs are Floyd covers... but I can tell you that the Cash album is absolutely fantastic. Personal Jesus and Bridge Over Troubled Water are both wonderfully re-done by The Man in Black.

You've got good taste in music, QD. I own American IV: The Man Comes Around as well, and it's probably Cash's best overall album in terms of quality. I love every single track on it.

i wish i could somehow convince my wife to look at the Man without the negative bias against country music.
