July Travel: Casa Bonita?

(do you see that my thread name starts with a "J" - I'm a good little EN Worlder! )

Well - based on our vacation schedule, The Universe and I will be spending a fairly large chunk of a day (and part of a night) in Denver, CO. We're trying to pick out something to do during that time and it has been suggested that we go to Casa Bonita to waste some time and be entertained...

What say you, EN World? Is Casa Bonita worth my time? Or should we find something else to do while in Denver? (suggestions welcome!)

Where are the ruins in relation to Denver? Any idea?

The ruins are in Mesa Verde National Park, which is a little over 350 miles from Denver, in the southwestern corner of Colorado. They are breathtaking. :)

Just realized that it would be a heck of a drive. You would have drive down I25 through Colorado Springs, through Pueblo and jump onto the 160 near Walsenburg. Then you'd take the 160 to Chimney Rock which is where the ruins are.

I was going to say - don't think they're very *near* to Denver. I really wish I had the time to spend to go - that's definately something I'd LOVE to do.

Alas, we've only got about half a day and part of a night... (we'll actually be spending most of our vacation near Steamboat Springs, (grandparents have a mountain home near-ish to there) but Denver is the closest airport that I wouldn't have to sell my kidney to fly into).
