KotS - Setting pictures for Winterhaven

Klaus

First Post
While searching for pictures of downlands to show my players, I came across the Wikipedia entry for the North Dows region of England. There are some nice pictures there (and more if you GIS for "North Downs"), and they fit perfectly with the mood and climate suggested in Keep on the Shadowfell:

Ha, I grew up in that area. Kind of amusing to think of gamers staring at maps of my local-ish area and thinking of them as pictures of a fantasy world.

Heh, I grew up in NZ - it was very weird seeing hobbits running around it when the LotR movies came out.

This is the image i used for our first adventure. Not sure where it is though. Any ideas?

Well, it looks far larger than the described village and it's amazing 20 buildings! ;) I'm still scouring GIS for "walled village", "thatched roof" and stuff like that. The closest I got to something with the appropriate size was the Castelo di Gorgonza, in Italy.

Here's the picture I found for the Waterfall where the kobolds lair: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottleach74/1890792381/

It's Thornton Force waterfall, in Ingleton, North Yorkshire. It has the right mix of rocks, plants and there's room for side entrances. The main entrance is between the rocks at the bottom.
