Spoilers Lanterns season 1 spoilers discussion

That's Hal being an a**hole. Like, do you not understand the subtext of the scene?
Oh we weren't sure up until that point.
The car ride, the jumping out of a car, the flying alone leaving John behind had not yet cemented it. Got it.

Well, clearly we know what  you are interested in...
I was ecstatic.

It shows several things: the town is small and power is consolidated: the guy who runs the town is also the father-in-law of the sheriff, who is married to the defense lawyer who gets him out. It makes for an easy confrontation to establish the Macons, what they are about, and how they can control the town, as well as showing Kerry's own running conflict of trying to do the right thing while being entrenched in a power structure that is clearly shady.

Like, how else would you like to establish this?
Well imagine this
Hal captures the runner, hands him to the sheriff - who isn't amenable to the interrogation.
They go to the bar but Hal being in a crappy attitude still manages to get into a fist-fight but this time you get the impression there is a general dislike of him (clue). John still gets to have coitus.
Hal ends up in jail but the next morning he is released by the sheriff on orders by the father-in-law (you can introduce the defense lawyer here)
The interrogation scene occurs. I would have written it better.
And Hal (and John) are called, escorted by the lawyer, to the Macons who we find out all the little fascinating details we did... Macon is interested in the direction GL is about to take, you can either take the direction that he believes the threat is now over or concerned that it may still exist....and during that convo giving the clue to Hal to test out the censors at the field or anywhere else in the town for that matter.

Because it involves Green Lantern characters, concepts, and themes. And it still has constructs, but they don't make the entire show about it. I'm sorry this a drama about characters. Maybe you should take the advice Morrus gave and watch a cartoon instead.
Cute, don't dare me to have a good time - Arcane, Blue Eyed Samurai...

While hatewatching is an incredibly unrelatable and unappealing concept to me, I would like to throw you the olive branch that Arcane and Blue Eyed Samurai are fantastic animated shows.
Okay so I have 3 decades worth of GL comics - I'm 6 episodes in, I'm not going to stop now.
Kyle Chandler I have liked since Early Edition.
Ulrich Thomsen is perfectly cast as Sinestro. He was phenomenal in Banshee.
And Aaron Pierre was also a great match to play John Stewart and the little I have seen of him in interviews is great.

The only reason I mentioned Arcane and Blue Eyed Samurai is because the poster I was replying to implied that I don't enjoy character drama and/or that cartoons don't have character drama. Both are far from the truth.

I just wanted the show to be as good as Daredevil season 3.

Edit: I appreciate the olive branch. Thanks.

No, but it's just him continuing the trend for different reasons. This is him punishing him for not listening to his advice. He caused the problem, he can clean it up. Like, again, what is the actual  critique?

I was ecstatic.

I mean, I figured as much. You were so interested in it you missed him go up and pick off a second satellite later on. ;)

Does less with all the parts. Hal captures the runner only to give him up to the cops makes Kerry the a**hole for not helping out Hal. Going to the bar for Hal to cause a fight misses the point that he doesn't just get into  random fights; the things he does have purpose. He's a dick, but he's smart, not just a hot-head. And the whole "Fight to get put in jail" continues the conflict between Kerry and Hal, and it's more interesting that it's a plan of Hal that backfired instead of him just getting into a random fight.

The interrogation scene occurs. I would have written it better.

Wouldn't we all?

And Hal (and John) are called, escorted by the lawyer, to the Macons who we find out all the little fascinating details we did... Macon is interested in the direction GL is about to take, you can either take the direction that he believes the threat is now over or concerned that it may still exist....and during that convo giving the clue to Hal to test out the censors at the field or anywhere else in the town for that matter.

The court scene does this better, though: It connects more cleanly to the bar, allows him to meet Macon (due to the favor), you get "He's not a man to owe"/"Sounds like a woman in debt", which also helps establish that while Kerry works with them, she is not fully aligned with them on everything. It also shows what Macon is interested in rather directly, and gives him reason to want the Lanterns gone once the "threat" is gone as well.

Like, I'm not saying this couldn't necessarily  work in the right circumstances, but I think you lose a whole lot of synergy with how the scenes build into each other.

Great shows, for sure. Can't wait for season 2 of BES.

Well.....one more episode for Hal to use his catch phrase

I enjoyed that episode, I thought it was gonna be another full flashback episode so I'm glad that it had only a few minutes of Hal's past then came back and moved the story forward. I'm wondering if Sinestro is all that's on that planet. Thought it was gonna be a spare lantern or a ring forge but it might just be Sinestro. Mind you, on a planet where fear is in the very air, maybe Sinestro does forge a yellow ring there...

Really enjoyed the latest episode. I appreciate that they were able to make Hal more sympathetic (IMO), without making him feel like a completely different person or pretending he isn't a complex man with some major flaws.

Even though Hal was in prison when Sinestro escaped, this episode makes it look like Jordan really was the one who broke him out of confinement despite that hurdle.

A bit difficult for me to imagine how they wrap everything up with just one episode left, but the writers haven't let me down yet, so hoping most major threads will have a bow on it, with just a small amount of things left to explore in other films or a possible season 2.

Still shocked John appears to be going through with plan to pay blackmailer 315k. Was kind of hoping he'd tell Kerry the truth about his fight with Hal in tonight's episode to take away what little leverage the blackmailer had... but I can also understand his perspective that he's probably unlikely to get a fair case against him in a predominantly white rural town who hates him, hates Green Lanterns, ans whose sherif was dating the deceased guy he punched right before he died.
