Let's reflect for a moment on how important this site is

Hello all,

I just want reflect for a moment on how important this site is to the D20 community. Most here seem to be D&Ders like myself but there is something for the moderns and other variations on the D20 rules as well.

I have been participating more and more lately as I have been personally more involved in the game since I started my own OGL setting creation project (something I should have started years ago). The stimulating discussions can really get my thoughts going and allow me to consider different points of view. If one ever needs to see just how different people's taste in gaming and fantasy is just hang out here for awhile. This is good because it can shake a certain elitism that can seep into someone who doesn't have exposure to different tastes and ideas.

Plus, this is one of the places where gamers can hang out and discuss worlds that never were and worlds that never could be with a passion usually reserved for the real world. I am usually involved on boards that discuss metaphysics, theology, philosophy, religion and politics but find that stepping away from those heavy things to talk with those who appreciate the world's greatest hobby is a therapeutic brake from those types of discussions.

Also, lets not forget how this site basically has its pulse on the entire D20 gaming scene with reviews and alerts to new products I don't think I would otherwise know about. Plus, the reviews here have certainly inspired me to both make purchases I might not otherwise have or to avoid ill-thought out purchases I would have made.

Well I am just writing this to express that and ask you folks what you have gotten out of your discussions here?

:)

Pretty much the same as yourself Sundragon. ENWorld is a forum where I can come and chat/discuss and share my views & opinions on the game I love. Of all the many D&D and RPG forums spread across the net, this is the one that I find myself returning to several times a day because its active, and full of fellow gamers.

Sure, it has its more negative posters and what-have-you, but I wouldn't think of going anywhere else for my gaming fix each day. :)

This site is the reason I game.

I started into D&D a few years back with the release of 3e. That was highschool, and some friends and I managed to get a game together from time to time, but I'd still spend hours on ENWorld, reading and posting. Now, after a year and a half of a hiatus, without touching anything D&D, I started reading threads at ENWorld again. That was about a month and a half ago. It inspired me to start up a new campaign, which will begin in about a week!

Beyond that, I'd have to reiterate what you already said: this site is amazing. ENWorld is a place to discuss ideas, become inspired, learn about the latest releases, and even discuss them with their authors.

This site is the reason I game.

I agree with everything you said. I can honestly say that I come to the site everyday. It is set as my homepage. I browse the message boards though out the day as well. I can't even being to list what I have gotten from the boards.
The thing I like about the the boards is that there are very few problems with flamers (there will always be a few). I can post a question and know that most of the time I'm going to get very useful answers from the people here. There are times when you don't get any responses, but those are few and far between.
Being able to get news and reviews in one spot is also great. The site really does have something to offer all gamers. The reviews have helped me a number of times to decide what to spend my gaming budget on. I have stayed away from a number of products and found some to buy that I never would have known about.
I hope that the site will be around for a long time to come. I have become a community supporter, and hope that some money will open up for me soon so I can continue to do so. Morrus and everyone else involved, keep up the steller work!!! You all do a great job, and deserve to be commended!! :)

I like reading over the rules discussions, they help keep me on my toes. I also like the sci-fi related news that is on the home page, I get a lot of my info about upcoming movies from that.

I used to be a pretty avid role player, but these days I only role play at conventions. This site has gotten me excited about RPGs again. The message boards are interesting and people put thought into their posts, and the news and reviews talks about the great stuff that is coming out now. The only thing that would make me give this site more kudos is if my postings result in finding a good gaming group in my area. :-)

I've been a longtime lurker and just became a regular poster (or troller as the case may be :) ) I have to admit that EN World really is a great place to hang out and talk about gaming. The mods are quick to nip any problems in the bud long before they fester and I find that people are capable of having pretty heated discussions without getting terribly personal. In other words, the place is filled with gamers who are passionate about their games but aren't about to start making all sorts of personal attacks on others just because they disagree. It's been a real eye-opener to someone who has been a longtime regular on another board where none of the above is true. I'm not saying that the odd flame fest isn't fun, but, when a board becomes dominated by a couple of poster's personal views, then, well, it's right down the tubes.

Thanks for letting me hang my hat here.
