Looking for a Swordmage idea

I'm looking for a Swordmage concept for an LFR mini campaign and want something a bit.....different. I have a Genasi and Deva Assault Swordmage already and am looking at Shielding (or maybe Ensnaring) most likely.

Eladrin is nice, but by-the-book. Half-Elf might be interesting even though I hate to buy an 18, but a mark & run multi-classing Half-Elf might be fun. I would be both solo and secondary defender at different times most likely.

The group has 16 players so far and there's two fighters and a Warden already signed up and we'll split in to 5 & 6 person groups most often. Leaders so far are bards and an artificers, controllers are a druid and two Invokers, Strikers are a couple barbarians (one Kenku!) and a couple of Avengers (I have a third Avenger already but probably will change).

Then again, I could just role with a Tactical Warlord with the Barbarians, Fighters and Wardens running around. ;)

Ok, so you want a shielding swordmage? So you need Con/Int, right? Too bad the Githyanki's aren't available yet. Likely want to focus on a Int bonus race. Humans work very well, Shadar-Kai are an interesting choide, same racials as Eladrin. Wilden give you a bonus to their secondary stats. Genasi work well also (but you play as one already).

Dwarf - different from both the usual Swordmage and the usual Dwarf. You'll be a bit sub-optimal in terms of attack, but the racial ability makes you VERY sturdy as a meat shield.

Gnome - you are the infuriating mark-and-run Shielding Swordmage.

Changeling - (is this legal in LFR?) - very good for RP.

I have a huge love for Genasi for any kind of Swordmage. Or, heck, for any kind of character in general. Their biggest problem is that they have too many cool feats, IMO, so you might concentrate on Genasi-specific stuff rather than on class-specific feats.

Have you considered the humble Human? An extra at-will is golden for a Swordmage, and the FRW bonuses are pretty substantial. Plus, you can get an 18 in your INT without paying the full cost.

Genasi are my favorite race these days too. My other idea was a Genasi Avenger. :) I worked on a Mage and a Sorcerer too, but didn't like the sorcerers (complete wrong stat bumps) and the mage was good at blasting stuff but not so good on control.

Are hybrids ok in LFR? I've seen some very interesting hybrid swordmage/wizard combos.

One thing that isn't ok in LFR is making a dwarven shielding swordmage and houseruling it so you can use axes or hammers. LFR can't handle the bearded awesomeness that is that combo.
