looking for Racial encounters

One of the things I love about 4e Monsters is I can have many different orcs and all have different stats, but as still tied together with their racial encounter.

I love tinkering with monsters, I can rename a Hobgoblin to an orc, Drop it's hobgoblin resolve and give it a Warriors Surge and now it feels like an orc.


But that means whenever I make new creatures I need new racial encounters.

I'm trying to convert some old monsters that I used back in 2e and just rediscovered them and I'm looking for suggestions on Racial encounter.

the race name is Ugul. They're definine traits is they are beastial, and mutable in the 2e version they would be fire based in hot areas, water based on the coast, etc. Any thoughts?

Oh they weren't in a book, sorry they were from my homebrew campaign in the early 90's... I created them back then.


Basically in the hot areas of the world were typical 2e munchkin.. they were immune to fire and did fire attacks. There were plant Uguls that controlled plants, there were earth ones that threw rocks.

What I'm looking at for 4e, is to have a universal Ugul stats and then modified ones that are resistant to a element and attacks do that same element.

Well, I think the first thing you'd want to figure out would be some kind of signature power or game mechanic you can attach to all Uguls. It might not work exactly the same for each type, but it would be recognizably similar across all of them. Maybe something like a way for them to create a minion or something out of a part of the environment related to their type. Animate plant, animate fire, animate rock, etc. That might work pretty well.
