I thought about it long and hard when Fellowship came out. For decades, in my mind, there was Star Wars as my favorite film of all, then Everything Else. Everytime I thought it might be surplanted, in the end, it was not. A week or so after I first saw Fellowship, I realized it had been. So, I can choose :)

Yeah, in my own mind, it's much to complex to say easily. I've only seen Return of the King once so far, so I've got a long way to go of rewatching, analyzing and putting it in it's proper place.

Not only that, the Lord of the Rings movies are much improved with their Extended Editions while the Star Wars movies are arguably better left alone rather than "Special Edition"-ized. And Star Wars has the lingering taint of the inferior prequel trilogy.

At the end, right now I'm giving it to Lord of the Rings, but man, it's a close one.

Eh, Indianna Jones is a very fun trilogy, but I've never heard of people have Indianne Jones marathon parties. To date, I think that's mostly been a phenomena isolated to Star Wars. I think once Return of the King is available at home, though, it'll be just as classic in that sense.

Star Wars Vs. Fellowship of the Ring - Pretty close, a tie or Star Wars by a hair.

Empire Strikes Back vs Two Towers - Empire is so much better it's like comparing Unforgiven to Paint Your Wagon. Two Towers doesn't even warrent comparison to a masterpice like The Empire Strikes Back. The victory is, in the words of Darth Vader, "All too easy". Sure the EE gains a little ground back, but it's a laughable comparison.

Return of the Jedi vs Return of the King - Haven't seen RotK so I can't really say, but from what I've read I'm thinking of waiting until the EE comes out so I don't repeat my theatrical release TT experience. Unlike a lot of folks, I loved Jedi. The lightsaber fight between Vader and Luke in the end sends chills up and down my spine. The scenes with Vader, Palpatine, & Luke are great. Incredible starship combat sequence, and the flying through the death star part was great. Sure the Ewoks were a little silly but they didn't detract one bit for me.

LOTR

Star Wars was magic (E4)
Empire was a good action flick and a good sequel
Jedi was embarassing

Lucas has also lost a lot of respect from me over the last few years as well.
