Heretic of The Seventh Circle
I have a dynamic in my game where the group creates the only game book they should need to ever open during regular play, and is vital during downtime and leveling etc as well. It's called the Lorebook, and it has information on characters, their allies and enemies, the factions they are tied to, the history of thier campaign, choosing certain aspects of the setting and era of play and what factions are in conflict, etc.
So, I have a couple questions for y'all nerds here.
First, if you were to play such a game, how do you feel about a game where character creations is a group endeavor involving questions that establish ties between PCs and between them and NPCs and Factions, as well as the state of the world and it's factions?
Think of it as maybe 4 questions per player about characters, and 1 or 2 per player about the world. Thi9s is all written down by the GM or a designated volunteer note taker, and goes into a journal that also has the basic mechanics of the game, and some other stuff, all of which we are working on making easily printable with form fill-able sheets and diagrams to even make folded paper journals for gamers that can't or don't want to buy pre-made journals.
Second, what are y'all's thoughts on a game with physical game aides as an assumed part of the game, where they and the system are built together?
Finally, do any of you know of any programs or services for making professional looking custom journals that are particularly good and fairly priced? Right now we just sort of take notes, but we are working on designing the page by page format on the basis of quarter pages from folding printer paper, so that the format is the same if you make a folded paper journal with printouts of the formats, and I am curious if anyone has dealt with any print on demand services, but also if there are any specific programs that will work better than just using microsoft programs and paint to create what will be printed.
attached is a recent build of our character sheet, for reference.
I am also working on creating a quarter page based version of this, so that players can make Ranger's Journals for each of their characters if they want, rather than using a standard character sheet.
