Making Channel Divinity More Interesting

I recently had a dilemma whilst making up a cleric.

The problem was that choosing Healer's Mercy really didn't fit the character concept. But taking Turn Undead is such a huge reduction in power that I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Then of course is the fact that I would have to waste a feat to get a power that would fit.

So, a simple house rule is to allow any Channel Divinity power accessible through a feat (except multiclass) as a replacement for Turn Undead/Healer's Mercy.

What do you think?

I like the idea myself. I thought of something similar while I was trying to come up with a homebrew pantheon of dieties. For instance, I couldn't bring myself to force a cleric of the god of magic to take turn undead. It just doesn't fit the concept. It seems reasonably balanced to give a channel divinity feat that does fit the concept in it's place. Definitely not a game breaker and I think adds flavor and variety to clerics.
Oh, and while I'm on the topic of divine flavor, domains are pretty cool flavoring too. ;)

This is a house rule I can get behind. Have you thought about extending this to all divine classes, not just Clerics?

Yeah, I'm doing that in my current campaign with the caveat that I may veto certain swaps.

Swapping out Divine Fortune, for instance, wouldn't be balanced as it's a very weak power.
