Map artists, editors, etc.

I have been talked into trying to Kickstarter my latest (last?) campaign, a ~60 page mini-campaign/adventure series based on a specific piece of real-world mythology instead of putting it on the DMG to die in obscurity. Based on the length, it's a PDF release, unless there's a good POD option for shorter books (doubtful). The KS would be for visibility and to take it to the next level with maps not made in Excel and perhaps some non-stock art.

I would rather go with referrals/recommendations from here instead of limiting myself to whoever the search engine algorithms happen to favor today.

1) Any suggestions for map artists? I print everything for use at the RL table so I tend to prefer black & white maps so my audience has that option as well. The two areas that need good maps the most are not traditional dungeons.
Elven Tower maps looks good.
Dyson doesn't appear to take commissions.

2) A good editor might help; I can only catch so many awkward or unclear phrasings when doing my test-run. Any recommendations?

3) Favorite artists for commissions? I have 1 piece of art for almost every adventure (mix of a general stock art site and DTRPG) but could easily upgrade to two or three.

So others may have more useful answers, but maybe my answer inspire others to post as well.


For my favourite map artist that is: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameartist/102984/tregis he works in boardgames but the stuffed fables and other games be the same designer just have the best looking maps in my oppinion. So much bettet than anything I ever see in RPGs...

They are all full colour though, so may not be what you want. Also Trevis might be too expensive for RPGs (boardgames normally have more money).




For artist commission there was a recent thread by Umbran so maybe you can find aomething there: Looking to commission art...



For editor I first though you mean layout editor, there I would recommend the one who worked on Beacon: BEACON TTRPG by Pirate Gonzalez Games she worked also on other games.

For proofreading editor I dont know.
