Maps in Polyhedron - Software

Krael

First Post
Quick question, and I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum...

does anyone know what software (if any) is used to make the maps that appear in Polyhedron magazine? (specifically the Global Positioning maps).

Myself and a friend are toying with the idea of pdf's full of maps of that quality, but unsure of the best software to use. :)

Thanks in advance!

Don't *know* per se, but I've achieved similar results in Adobe Illustrator (nice clean vector lines) and Adobe Photoshop (nifty embellishments). I'd like to find out what the Paizo cartographers use, too....

Ahh ok. :)

I was under the impression it was a program. I have to say, I'm very impressed with the quality of the maps. One of these days my skills may be up to that level, but until then, I guess I'll stick with Campaign Cartographer :)

Thanks everyone for the help!

Christopher West, aka Mapmaker here and on the various message boards, uses Adobe Photoshop. He explains his process a bit over on my message boards, in this thread on the Holonet Forums.

My maps are all done in Photoshop... I'd post one, but it seems I can't get the file small enough (down to 90k, it still won't post :(). Anyway, for high quality looking maps, it's probably the best way to go, though it isn't what I would call "map" friendly. You have to know Photoshop well to do work quickly in it. Results in the end can look very cool though, so if you're serious about doing them, it's the way to go :).
