MWP announced that they have the license for a Marvel rpg based on the comics. They will be producing a basic book and supplements focused upon events (e.g., Civil War) that will sit next to the graphic novel.

edit: Oops. It is too late to correct the name spelling in the title.

Interesting. To be honest, if you'd gave me a hundred guesses, I'd have gotten it wrong each time. But I see the potential there, for sure.

That would make it even worse. I'd prefer they went the DC Adventures route and made NPC books rather then having the The Civil War, Civil War: Pro-Registration, Civil War: X-Men, Civil War: Anti-Registration and then have the Civil War versions of the various characters relegated to whatever book they fit into.

Is this the most mainstream publisher to have a superhero game that centers, in large part, on the relationship between characters? (Basing that on it being Cortex+.)

I don't mind having books about events in the standard continuity. But having them be central? That's the metaplot problem writ large.

I mean, I've already *read* the Civil War line. I know what happens. Why would I want to play through it?

If my play matches the standard continuity, there wasn't much point to the exercise, so to speak.

If my play doesn't match, then I have a problem for the future - what I have in my game will no longer match the next set of books to come out.

I would much prefer a stand-alone core, with supplements for those who want them
