Honestly there are very few opening nights nowadays that I find theaters "packed". Back in the day, that was a major planning thing, had to get tickets in advance to get a seat, etc etc. Now I honestly don't care if its opening weekend or 3 weeks in, I rarely worry about finding a good seat.

Opening nights and Summer weekends are the only times I find the multiplex not virtually dead. I go into lots of showings where I'm literally the only person in the theater.

Generally the only time we find it packed at a local multiplex cinema is for unique events like National Theatre Live. Lots of white middle-aged folk turn out for those.

I saw it at lunch time on a Tuesday so I was actually kind of impressed that there were about ten of us. This move firmly falls into the category of, "I loved that we got a movie but I only liked the movie," and yeah, a 1 hp rat has a better chance of surviving a critical hit than this film does a critical analysis. I mean, the reviews said it was a fun movie, not a good movie, and I suppose that was true. But I could have done with it leaning a bit more into goodness. I also felt like it was missing something in the middle. Like, the forest escape scene was quite long, but then they just walked to Snake Mountain offscreen and nothing happened along the way? Also not sure why we did not get Cringer actually getting his Battle Cat armour actually fighting Beast Man on screen.

Interestingly the Dian actress, Christiaan Bettridge, was actually a stunt double for Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Blake Lively as Ladypool. Looks like this was her first real movie role as a full actor. I do like to see it when stunt actors get a shot as just being actors.

I was watching and editing - improving storyline, fixing dialogue, identifying missed opportunities, shortening scenes etc

I thought about seeing it, then noticed Jared Leto is Skeletor.
Hard Pass.

Having now seen it I can say really enjoyed this movie, I liked the easter eggs and Dolph cameo, I liked how they explained the Hero titles as Adam juvenile nicknames, and while the jokes were rather droll, they too were suitable for 10 yr olds (well other than the fisting and ramming), though I did laugh a couple of times.

I think it was a great live action reimagining of the property though I was upset when they turned the Heroic Guardian of the Forest into mulch
