Meeting EnWorlders at GenCon - Good or Bad?

I see a lot of posts on here about people who are, or wish they were, going to GenCon. A lot of those posts say something to the effect of "I want to meet fellow EnWorlders there." So for those of you who have done it, met fellow EnWorlders at GenCon or any other convention, is it always a good thing? Has there been anyone from EnWorld you've met face to face and just thought "This guy's a jerk?" Or has it been a "feel-good fest" all around?

So far, so good. Every ENWorld denizen I've met* has been pretty cool. If there were any jerks, they were such minor jerks that I've forgotten about them.

In particular, War Golem, Simmo, Ashy, Buttercup, and others that aren't dawning on me right now have all been very nice people. I'm looking forward to gaming with Cthulhu's Librarian, TB, Buttercup, and others this year.

*by met, I mean more than:
Me: "Hi! I'm Francisca."
So and So: "I'm so and so, nice to meet you."
Me: "Bye"
So and So: "Bye"

I have to agree. I met So and So and let me tell you, he's and old So and So but basically a nice guy.

Excluding a few excpetions, it has been very good. All groups have their problems and EN World has some people that when I meet them, I tried to stay clear of them after that.

But hanging out at the ENnie booth with Telflon, and CL, and shopping in the dealer room Saturday morning with Buttercup and sharing blank looks with Psion when people asked us who won the ENnies.....It was a blast.

One of my RL best friends I met on another gaming messageboard, and we often stay weekends at each other's houses.

I've met another person from that same board - he was much more shy in person than he was online, but a cool guy nonetheless.

He's in my Saturday game, along with an individual I did meet from ENworld, and a friend of his. So, of 4 people I've met on the internet, all of them are very cool.

However, I chatted a lot with these people BEFORE I met them FTF. ;)

Of all of the ENWorlders I've met and/or partied with, I've never met one that I didn't get along with. A few I've met I even count as friends, and share regular correspondence with. I'm sure I'll one day meet someone who rubs me the wrong way (the law of averages has got to catch up sooner or later) ;) but even then it's overwehlmingly a positive thing.

In fact, it's the #2 thing I miss when I don't go to Gencon. Thankfully, I go to a regular regional Gameday, so I get to see a bunch of the local ENWorlders a few times a year!

It's generally been a good thing. Most of the ENWorlders I have met in person have been really cool and fun to hang out with. There are exceptions, but you know what they say, if you can't say anything nice...

Last year, I had a great time with the likes of Buttercup, Hellhound & Dextra, TeflonBilly, Crothian, Cthulhu's Librarian, Campbell, Jester47, Simmo, RangerWicket, StoneAngel, TruthSeeker, HandOfEvil, Xath, Pkitty, Destan, Behemoth3, Zenld, Michael Morris, and probably so many others I am missing it's ridiculous.

I chatted with Teflon Billy at the EnWorld booth last year, and was disappointed he didn't actually have the "help me" written on his head. :p

I also chatted with Destin while he was at his booth.

Both were gentlemen and scholars.

I had an amazing time hanging out with other EN Worlders last year at Gencon. In fact, I had a great deal more fun with the pickup games I played in last year than I did with the events I attended.
