[MEG] Dry land: Empire of the dragon sand

As promised in this thread: http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42483 I got the chance to see a sneak peak at Dry land, so now i'll do my part and give out a little info. :D

Ok, first off they really crammed a lot of great stuff into 144 pages. The format is basically the same seen in Bluffside. You get details on the entire southern region of the Bluffside campaign, broken down nicely into different regions, these regions are then broken down into placeses of interest. The amount of detail is really amazing.

Then Theres is a huge chapter of NPC's, followed by a ton of new PrC's. Several of which are very nicely done and are usable in any setting. Included are a few very cool Dragori specific ones. Fans of that particular race will not be dissappointed. As if that wasn't enough there are also good sized sections of new feats, monsters, spells, and a cool new race. All of which are again easily portable to any setting. They really managed to cram a lot of crunch into the book without sacrificing any detail setting wise.

Whether you are a fan of Bluffside and want more insight to it's world, or you are looking for a good bases for a desert setting in general, Dry lands is a excellent choice.

Cool, so details man!! What's that part of their world like? Do we get examples of Dragori cities or greater insight into them? What about any other new races and places? How about more hints on the history of this area? Any other secrets from long ago revealed?

Big time coverage on the Dragori. You will enjoy it. I think you will really love the section on various types of desert conditions in game terms. The author, Becky, did a great job in this regards.

Well... if I bought and didn't like Interlude: Sands of Pain, should I still expect to like Dry Land?

Honesty is my policy so to answer your question, why did you not liek I:SoP?

Well... some things in it really bugged me, and that may have prevented me from giving it an honest assessment. Maybe I should re-read it.

Particularly, I thought that everything about the (fairly central) Jaisyn Bruce character was terrible. Starting with his name, and going on to his dialogue. Gaaaaah. Cheese. I think this was my biggest problem with the book.

The inclusion of Indonesian kris-knives in a desert environment was a wrong note to me, and I thought the ceramic armour was ridiculous.

Finally, I thought the tombs at the end felt very much tacked-on, as if it was a necessity to include a dungeon but one didn't fit into the plot of the adventure.

I think you'd be better surved compairing it to Bluffside as aposed to Sands of pain. From what i can tell they are two very differnt products. Sands of pain is primaritly a module, Dry lands is 100% setting.

It'd be like saying i didn't like city of the spider queen, should i buy the Forgotten realms campaign setting?
