Monk item that lets them enchant fists?

What is the name of that item that lets monks get things like flaming fists and whatnot (and which book is it in)?

Also, if someone wanted to combine something like Ki Straps with some item that was based on pluses (like +1 flaming guantlets), how would you figure out the cost? As another example, what if someone had Rhino Hide and wanted to make it +3, or add fortification, or any other "plus-based" abilitites?

It seems there are a lot of weapons and armors that are not build using the plus system and I'm not sure what effect that has on the cost when you try to improve these things (if you even can).

Just a warning that doesn't answer the question - a monk wearing gauntlets is deemed to be using a non-monk weapon, and loses all the favourable unarmed attack goodies. 1d3 damage, normal BAB.

Thanks for the information. Strange that a monke can't put on a pair of gloves and still punch people effectively.

I know that monks can't wear gauntlets without losing their improved hand to hand capabilites, but what about cestus? Haven't seen anything about them.

Ring of shocking blows->Sword and fist

A side opinion...

As far as I can tell, one of the problems with the monk is the strict no weapon / no armor requirement if you want to use monk abilities. Wear ANY Armor, you lose the Wis to AC. Use any weapon and lose the superior attacks per round unless its a monk weapon.

Those requirements may make sense intially, until you realize that the game also insists that the game is balanced only if the characters have appropriate magic items.

That means that the monsters are expecting melee fighters wearing magic armor and using magic weapons.

The Monk AC problem is mitigated by Bracers of Armor and Rings of Protection. But for attacking they are screwed. Ki Strike comes too late to be helpful against CR appropriate monsters with any meaningful sort of damage reduction. This leads ot using Monk weapons which do unimpressive damage. Nearly all do 1d6 damage, and x2 crit. The other melee tanks tend to use 1d8 weapons.
